MAX PAXTON-VENKMAN walked into Cavern High, sighing lightly as she looked at her Converse.  .It had been almost a month of school, yet she still couldn't get over how weird the year felt. There was a whole new cast of characters, it felt. Like the school had expanded so much. And not just the freshman - it felt like all her classes had 15 new people. Weird, people. They all thought the same way, it seemed. Max ignored it most of the time, going out of her way to be away from everyone, even if it meant sitting in the library. She would sit in the library. By Gabriella Laurier. Just to get away from everyone.

GABRIELLA LAURIER found herself in the library a lot. Not that she didn't want to have friends, she just loved the library. She was there a lot in her free time - either there or the science room. Gaby, on the other hand, had not noticed anything off, like Max had. At least until more and more people spilled into the library every day. The Cavern High library was nowhere special, believe me. Just a small extra room with some books. ( And yes, they'd all been read multiple times by our wonderful Gaby. ) But all the people who suddenly came? They were all a little weird within themselves. . . .whether it be looking for mythology ( for absolutely no reason ) or checking out things about ghosts and the city's past. Now, Max and Gaby were pretty much polar opposites. One girl longs for friends and a relationship, and the other? Doesn't like most people and hides the fact that she wants someone. But this didn't stop the two from sitting by each other. It was nice for them each to have someone who would regularly be there. Even if Max was always on her computer and Gaby always with her nose in a book.

LUNA CARLEIS was the one who checked the books out about ghosts and the city's past. And she was proud about it! I mean, she was learning all about the city's past . . . and starting to find out some things she shouldn't know. . . like maybe the fact that FRICKING PETER VENKMAN ONCE LIVED THERE- but she's never heard of him . . .and she asked multiple other people. . . .and neither have they. Honestly, this discouraged her. Who was Peter Venkman, and why should she care? One girl named Samantha seemed to know, and that one Max girl. But neither of them told her? And why not? Hard to tell, but they both avoided her after that question. More like interrogation. But that's besides the point! Luna had decided to go to the local library on Friday. That's why she was sitting across from Gaby, waiting for the girl to put in a bookmark. When she finally did, Luna grinned.

"Gaby! Bestie!"Luna said, smiling.

"Bestie?"was Gaby's confused response. The two almost never talked, only for school projects or the occasional, 'what's up?' 'not much, you?' 'not too much.'

Luna sighed, shrugging a little. "Alright. Fine. Acquaintance," She said, biting her lip. "Can we talk?"

"Sure, why not?"Gaby said, the ghost of a smile pulling at the corners of her mouth. She was honestly just glad to have a friend.

"Cool. Library on Friday? I have some things I need to check out. . . and I thought you might want to . . . and you know, I needed a friend to do it with so . . . ."Luna started, slightly awkwardly. She never really had talks like this. . . and also didn't know how to persuade Gaby.
