-ALEX-
He jumped, not expecting her to say something. He fumbled with his phone, sending the message before looking up at her. She was looking at her phone, texting. Her eyes fell on mine and locked there. He began to rub the back off his neck. "Uh, Alex. My name is Alex.." He said, peering down at the floor like the meaning of life was on it.
"Gracey." The girl said. She looked about his age. 14, 15, maybe even 16. "What?" He asked, Gracey?
"My name...my name is Gracey." She slightly smiled and her phone vibrated, she received a message. She looked down at it and she laughed slightly. "Oh, sorry." His face heated up, he was embarrassed. "Nah, it's fine." She said, looking back up and smiling. Alex paused for a moment before saying something. "You look really familiar.." He said, concentrating on her face. She raised an eyebrow, "I don't know many people, so I'd think I'd remember you a bit." But she shook her head, "you don't." "No, I've seen you in a photograph before." Alex said, he was positive. Or more like, 87% positive. Remembering faces was not his specialty in an sort, but he sworn it was her.
She had the same blue eyes with a hint of brown, cute small nose, and dimples when she smiled. Maybe even a hint of freckles lining her cheeks. Her beanie held down most of her hair as the wind blew rough and dangerously hard. From what Alex knew so far, is that the place didn't have tornadoes.
Gracey swiped some loose hair out of her face, tucking it behind her ear. She turned her phone on, "The bus should be here soon." Her thumbs clicked keys and then she hit send. He read the name tag. Luke?
He realized he was being nosy and looked away at his own phone, Isabel sent him a message. Isabel was his best friend that acted like a sister. She was older then him, maybe 3 years. She had just turned 19 maybe a month ago. Isabel was in the UK, they had met on a cruise and started talking every since the event last year. She was nice and fun to talk to, but sometimes she got drunk and..Alex got to know a lot of secrets.
Gracey stood, her converse clinking in the gravel. She started to pace back and forth. Her head was bent low to the screen. Her hand covered her mouth and she smiled, her dimples deep but cute. She looked at him staring at her. She smiled confused, and looked back at him and waved. "Hi." She said. He sat there awkwardly, "Hey" he said back.
A sound of a motor could be heard further away and Gracey pulled him up by the hand, her feet sliding in the gravel. She jumped up so she stopped sliding, still holding Alex's hands. Gracey let go quickly, her warm touch replaced by a cold breeze. The bus stopped in front of them. She smiled up at him friendly and she marched forward. Literally.
~*~*~*~*~*~
Gracey sat down in the seat, Alex sat next to her, staying far away as possible, she did the same. She bit her lip and looked down at her screen. Isabel had gone to college, and his phone was dying anyway. He sat there quietly sometimes looking at her messages. He caught himself smiling at her snarky replies and how close they were together. Alex wondered if they were dating.
Gracey turned off her phone completely and stuffed it in her backpack. They sat in silence. Gracey started tapping a rhythm on the seat in front of them. Alex stared out the window, longing it to snow tomorrow. It was Febuary, but that didn't matter. Anything could happen in the world. So why couldn't it be snow?
He started to see the school building around he corner. He already got a short tour from the principal the other day when his mom registered him in. It was big and fancy, which was surprising for such a small city. Cold breeze flew through his hair from an open window and he tossled it slightly.
Honestly, he didn't want to sit next to Gracey. Alex just didn't....like people. Most of the time he was referred as a "bad boy" but he didn't like putting labels on himself. But, he sure as heck didn't listen to most people. He did what he wanted, not listening to people.
