Soft Spot

"Will this be all dear?" The nice librarian asks as she scans my two books.

"Yes ma'am." I pull out my library card for it to be scanned as well. Once she finishes, she hands me back the books along with my card and I head out. I walk out of the way of those who were standing in line behind me and shuffle my way to look for a desk. I try my best to look for an empty spot but to my luck, there weren't many options available. I admit defeat with a sigh and head to the rooftop instead.

No one is allowed up there but the janitors always leave the door unlocked knowing people don't get regular access up there any way. Or so they believe... Me and Sunny found this place to be a very rebellious, cool kids hang out place for us when we were younger. Now it's just convenient.

I open the door to the roof at the top of the stairway and I'm immediately greeted with a soft gust of wind. The weather is incredibly nice today. It's not a clear sky but it's also not entirely cloudy either. It's just right. I take a big deep breath in letting my soul relax for a second.

I continue to walk to the usual spot me and Sunny have created. It's nothing special just a thin cheap blanket laid across one of the more shady spots of the roof. This roof is enlaced with so many memories of our childhood. Many of which consisted of plans of just wanting to run away (which were never carried out). Sometimes going through hard times. Hell, this was a hotspot for trading Pokemon cards with each other. What ever it was, this roof has probably seen it all.

Finally i sit down crisscross and stare at one of my books. The title "Nature" stared right back at me. I wonder if Ralph Waldo Emerson ever was in a similar position. My thoughts were unfortunately cut short when my phone buzzed in my pocket. I fished it out and was met with messages from Sunny.
