Author’s Note: So here’s my new story. This one is also a tvd fanfic and it’s another oc fanfic. I hope you like this as much as you appear to like The Donovan Twin and hopefully this can get just as many good reviews. This starts in the middle of season 2 (just before episode 6) and will go on from there (although I might skim over some of the irrelevant plot). Also, the face claim for Mya in this is Hayley Williams. I hope you enjoy reading, and don’t forget to vote and comment!

DISCLAIMER: I don’t own The Vampire Diaries or any of the characters. I only own Mya.

I knocked on the door cautiously, considering turning around and running away. No, I can't I've only been here five minutes and I've already got my old habits back. So I stood, willing myself to wait until someone opened the door. Then it did. It was quick, not at all like in a movie where a character makes a huge comeback with someone standing shocked on the other side of the door. It just kind of opened. With my beautifully confused cousin standing on the other side. I waved. Very awkwardly. I never really thought that I would ever have to go back to Mystic Falls so a speech wasn't really prepared. That didn't seem to matter to Caroline though. Before I knew what was happening, she threw her arms around me and pulled me into a hug. I didn't really know what to do so I just hugged back, missing the feeling of family. She pulled back to study my face and spoke.

“Mya?! I can't believe you're here! I mean, my mom said that you might be coming but she didn't really sound like she believed it. I'm so happy to see you!” I smiled politely, feeling slightly strange to be back around Caroline after all this time.

“Yeah, well, I figured that here was as good a place as any. Plus, I wanted to see a friendly face, and I'm pretty sure you and your mom are the only ones I've got left.” I spoke quietly, trying not to sound too confident. I didn't even know if I'd actually be welcome there. Caroline gave me a slightly confused look. That's when I realised that her mom probably hadn't told her why I'd be staying. Maybe Liz didn't even know. I had just assumed that my father would have ran his mouth to everyone he knew, I thought that everyone would know about how much of a disappointment I am. I just shook my head and told her it didn't matter. Cause at the end of the day, it didn't. That was my home now. Whether I liked it or not.

Caroline just smiled and ushered me into the house, grabbing one of my bags from the porch and leading me to the guest room.

“My mom’s at work, she'll be home later. She'll be so excited to see you!” Caroline hadn't changed a bit. Sure, she seemed more mature and a lot less self-absorbed but she was still Caroline. She was still confident and beautiful, she still carried herself the same way. I liked that. I liked how she never seemed to lose that light. I wish I could say the same.

“You know, Care, I never thought I'd actually say this but, I missed this town. It's not much compared to Brooklyn but I missed it.”

Caroline laughed at my slightly backhanded compliment before glancing down at her phone slyly.

“I'm sorry Caroline, I'm interrupting your plans. Please, if you have somewhere to be, go. I can make myself at home, you know, unpack, watch some TV, maybe even have a luxurious bath.” I said hopefully, sending a wink her way and turning around to unpack some things. Caroline looked down at her phone and then back up at me. At her phone, at me. She did this a couple of times before getting an idea. She looked at me, raising an eyebrow and trying to hide a smile. I raised my own eyebrow, but I wasn't smiling. I was worried.

“Caroline? What are you thinking?” I asked, knowing that she had an idea of some sort.

“Well… I was meant to go to Elena's to have some drinks and have a bit of a get together, but… We could have it here!” She exclaimed her idea as if it was the most brilliant thing she had ever thought of. I didn't really know how to respond. I didn't want to shoot her idea down so I just settled for nodding.
