*Caitlyn's POV*

I slammed the front door and walked into the kitchen where I found my mom cutting veggies for our dinner. She looked up and gave me a warm smile. It made me sick knowing she'd kept this a secret from me.

"Oh hi sweetie!" she greeted, oblivious to the death glare I was giving her, and focused back on cutting her carrots "Rough day at school?"

I leaned against the doorway and crossed my arms, still giving her a death glare.

"When were you going to tell me about Andrea?" I said quite calmly, but full of venom.

Mom stopped cutting for a moment, almost as though she were in a trance. She shook her head and went back to what she was doing, replying "I don't know who you're talking about Catie."

This just made my blood boil. I walked over, grabbed the knife out of her hand and slammed it into the cutting board. My mom jumped and stared at me with wide eyes, but I didn't care.

"When were you going to tell me I have a sister?! A TWIN sister?! And that my supposed father isn't really my father?! That it's some man I've never met named Jeremy Cruz?! When Mom?! WHEN?!" I yelled. The whole neighborhood could probably hear me, but I didn't care.

We stood there in silence for a few minutes, me fuming at her, and she staring at me with tears in her eyes. Finally, she broke eye contact and asked "How did you find out?"

"Ancestry," I said bluntly, still pissed. I mean, wouldn't you be if you found that for 16 years you've been living as an only child even though you have a twin? Plus you've been raised by somebody who isn't really your father. I think I'm kinda in the clear here, but anyways.

Mom sighed before continuing. "I was waiting until your 18th birthday to tell you. So was your real father with Andrea."

She paused. The tears were threatening to fall from her eyes, which made me soften a little, but I was still angry with her. Mom took a deep breath, then continued.

"When your real father, Jeremy, and I found out we were having twins, we were more than overjoyed. Not only had we been wed for a little over a year, but we were going to be new parents to two beautiful children. Everything we had hoped for was coming together. When you girls were born, though, that's when reality set in for both of us. I saw it as an amazing miracle and felt we were perfectly capable of our lifestyle. But your father did not think so. He believed that living here in Janesville would not be a good place to raise you girls. He talked about transferring for his work to Miami and being able to help me find a job as well. He had the mindset that it was more family friendly over there and it would allow you girls to be more challenged in life."

Mom shut her eyes and bit her lip to restrain from crying before continuing in a broken voice.

"But I refused. Because not only is this both our hometown, but it's also where we have our connections and ties back to who we are. Your father did not understand that. So, when you were both only 4 months old, we got a divorce, and I took custody of you Caitlyn, and your father took custody of Andrea. He moved to Miami, and never came back."

After those words, Mom lost it. She broke down crying, covering her face with her hands sobbing. At this point, I lost all my anger at her and went over and hugged her. Tears were already threatening to fall out of my eyes as well. We just stood there for a few minutes until Mom was able to regain her composure. She pulled away and looked at me. She gave a small, weak smile, which I returned.

"If only I got to see you two both grow up together," She said softly, but then her smile dropped, "But it's been 16 years since your father and I have spoken to one another."

She turned away and walked to the kitchen window, looking out, as if somehow, both Andrea and my father would walk into her view.

I thought about it. We both wanted to see them again, and we know they live in Miami. Plus, Jeremy, or I guess "Dad", is supposed to tell Andrea anyways, so if I found out early on, why shouldn't she?

I walked up to Mom and placed a hand on her shoulder, and gave her a warm smile.

"Mom, let's fly out to Miami."
