"We need you to tell us everything you heard Ms.LaRusso. Everything that was said. Anything is a big help."
The dim lights of the interrogation room made Sams eyes go fuzzy. Over time the detectives lost their faces and Sam tried to rack her brain for everything she could remember.
"There was a voice, it was somewhat deep but also a bit strained. He said that if I keep making mistakes people are gonna die."
Sams eyes stayed glued to the metal table and she tried her best to choke down the panic. She had to keep her cool if she wanted to help everyone stay alive. The entire station was buzzing with the newly opened case, hushed whispers of the name Victoria Nichols drifted around her. It had barely been twenty four hours since Tory's body had been found, tied to a chair with her brains blown out in her apartment. Apparently they had found Tory's little brother too, hiding in a closet covered in his sisters blood.
"Your father put in a report before this all started, claiming that you had encountered Ms.Nichols's killer hours before her murder. Is there any physical descriptions you can give me? Even the smallest detail is helpful."
Sam tried to remember. He had been kind of tall but around her height. His had worn a ghost face mask, the blacken eyes hanged her memories. Nothing out of the ordinary. Nothing special.
"He was about my height and worn a ghostface mask and black robes. Nothing else I remember."
The detectives nodded and wrote some things down. One of them waved at the one way mirror behind her and a moment later, a cop opened up the door.
"Your parents are waiting outside Ms.LaRusso. We will be in contact if anything comes up. Stay safe."
She nodded and followed the cop out of the interrogation room. She kept her eyes glued to the floor below but didn't miss the way that the station went silent as she walked through. Her dad and the boys were waiting for her by the door. Miguel was the first to spot her, immediately wrapping her in a hug.
"Hey, how'd it go?"
"I'm practically useless. I didn't have any valuable information to give them so they let me go." Miguel nodded and let her go. Her dad was speaking to one of the detectives that had been in the room and by the look on his face, she could tell this wasn't gonna end well. Robby steps forward, concern painting his face.
"Shit, Sam."
He begins to wrap her in a tight hug but she shoves him off.
"No!"
Her scream is loud and everyone in the station turns to look at her. Robby seems to understand her reaction and tries to explain himself.
"No, Sam just-"
"LEAVE ME ALONE!! GET AWAY!!"
Sam backs away from him and she can feel her body burning with rage. How dare he! How dare he have the nerve to try and act like his new girlfriend isn't trying to kill her. Robby looks to the boys but they just look away. They didn't wanna say it but they agreed with Sam. They wanted Robby gone. Robby can feel their stares. He just scoffs and runs out of the station, not looking back. Miguel walks back closer to her and slowly tucks her hair behind her ear. She was shaken. He calmed her down.
"Me and Eli's parents are here to pick us up. We decided that it's best if we go home now, try and let the cops do their work."
Demetri shrugs and jabs a finger towards the door. Sam nods and they hug her, before walking out to the cats parked infront of the station. She turns back to Miguel and sees him looking down at his phone.
"My moms here too. She wants me home."
Sams heart sinks. She doesn't wanna be alone. Miguel had saved her. What would happen when he wasn't there to protect her? Or her him?
"Uh yeah you should be home, staying safe."
He frowns and holds her face for a moment before kissing her. He pulls back and lightly kisses her on the forehead before waving goodbye. Sam raises her bandaged hand and immediately puts it back down.
"Sam, let's go. Your moms picking up your brother and we're getting a police escort."
Sam follows her dad out and gets into the backseat of his car. Her phone goes off and she sees a text from an unknown number.
Unknown Number
I see you've upgraded your security. I might let you and your friends live for tonight, but tell the police I contacted you, and I'll have a mighty fine time with the littlest LaRusso.Anthony. Oh fuck. Anthony!
Me
Keep your hands off my brother.Sam tried to control her breathing as her father talks on his phone with some head of security or the police department. A picture comes through. Anthony laying on his boyfriend Luca's bed, a set of LEGOs infront of him. It seemed like the boys were building some Harry Potter LEGOs and watching one of the movies in the background. He looked so happy, so clueless. If this asshole touched her brother, she would rip him from the seams.
Unknown Number
Careful Princess, one wrong move. There's a sword over your head, don't make me cut the string.Sam immediately called Anthony. The phone rang and rang. Her leg continued to bounce and she waited for the call to go through. A beep noise came through and she looked down at her phone. Call failed flashed on the screen and Sam had to stop herself from throwing her phone across the car. She took a deep breath and tried again, getting the same result. She decided to call her mom, seeing as she probably had Anthony by now. This time instead of that same dreaded beep, her mother answered.
"Mom?"
"Sam? Is everything ok?"
Sam relaxed and nodded to herself.
"Yeah, I just got worried about you guys and I called Anthony but he didn't answer his phone."
"Oh his phone died at Luca's and your dad took the charger out of my car and put it into his, so he's phoneless right now."
Sam smiled and nodded.
"Yeah that's a completely reasonable answer as to why he wasn't answering my calls. How far are you guys?"
"We're already pulling into the driveway. How about you guys?"
Sam peered out there window.
"We're passing the bakery on fifteenth so we'll be right behind you."
"Ok, be safe. Love you."
"Bye."
She hung up the phone and sat back in her seat. Everyone was safe. The boys were with their parents, Anthony was with her mom and she was with her dad. This asshole couldn't actually hurt anyone she loved. She was protected. Everyone was gonna be safe and okay. So why couldn't she believe it? Why did Sam feel like this was far from over?
