The Questions of Life

All the players are on the ground panting their lungs out and sweating bullets in the giant elevator after a deadly game of dodgeball. The sweat left dark areas on their red and white tracksuits with their number on the left side. Player 238 (Anastasha), a 23-year-old brunette with a blonde bun and shaved undercut, is standing against the wall with a tired look on her face. 316 (John), a 22-year-old blonde guy right next to her, starts to see people in the corner praying as they shake. The spoken words thanked God that they were not like those killed in the game. Specifically, not as unfortunate and not as notorious. These words trigger 316.

316: I find it so funny that you only wanted to give all these thanks when you achieved something of your expectations but turned a blind eye when everything went to hell.

639: Those people trembled in fear. We had enough faith, unlike them. That is why we are alive now.

316: Don't get it twisted. If you're willing to believe having "enough faith" brings you the perfect, expected result in every way of life, you're sadly mistaken. It's a process and using your tools given. The reality is, we made the bed. Now we have to lay in it.

592: Bullshit. Suppose there is anyone you should thank, thank yourself, blondie. You gave us the hit-and-run that we needed to win. But, unfortunately, that supreme being of yours is only responsible for bringing disaster upon us. You're delusional if you think otherwise.

316: Well, let me ask you a question. When an adult told us not to touch a burning stove, did we feel it anyway?

592: What are you talking about?

316: When a fire was burning, did we put it out or add fuel to the flame? When peace was dying, what solution did we choose, communication or war? We repainted the giant picture. Even though the highest one repeatedly told us to correct the mistakes, we disobeyed and left them dry. Now, remind me who started this.

592: (closes her eyes and sighs) Us.

316: Bingo. So, who should we blame for destroying the creation? The creator or humanity? (turns her head to him) But, hey, we're still here, aren't we? Life is the most significant sign of grace. Six feet under is where we should be now. So we are called to live for grace freely despite the bed we made.

All the players are stunned in silence after 316 stops talking. Player 238 looks at 316 with a slightly surprised look. She was agnostic and was not always very sure if a god existed. She sure hated it when people randomly brought religion into people's issues. However, what Player 316 said was a little bit eye-opening. Still, she kept her walls high up.
