The elevator opens to a long hallway, and all the players start to follow the front enforcers as they walk. 316 walks beside 238 and begins to converse with her.
316: Hey. I suppose you're in for the better news. I'll be happy to tell you.
238: Not. Just quit looking at me.
316: There's the next blank room. You know what that means for tomorrow-a new game. Gale, player 062, told me.
238: What else did he tell you?
316: To look after you. But I'm not doing it for Gale's reasons. Give me a sign to know why. You know where I'll be if you change your mind. (walks away from her)
That night as everyone got in their beds, 238 sat still with her legs crossed, looking at the wall. She couldn't get 316 off her mind. Something about him was extraordinary. The players are not showing as much fear as they did in the last few rounds. But, on the other hand, why would a kind soul like him want to tag along with her? After all, she is a hard-headed drug addict. He knows this. He already knows the histories of most of the players who conversed with him. So, why is he treating them this way?
As the players had their breakfast the following day, the team of religious leaders decided it was a good time to confront 316.
165: And what do you think you're doing, kid?
316: What does it look like I'm doing?
275: Oh, I don't know. But, maybe, pampering these sinners, knowing where they are headed?
316: You mean a path of their choice? Then, yes, I am.
165: You don't know what you are getting yourself into. You want to call yourself a life-changer, then do it, right.
316: What is the right way? Trying to hold these broken souls in the palm of your hand, isn't it.
536: You suck up. Open your eyes and look! Can't you see everything that is happening now? There is a place for those who don't judge sinners righteously.
316: I think you and I have very different definitions of the word "judge." Love and pride.
165: Look, kid, you may have words of affirmation of some sort, but you are not a saint.
316: Oh no, I'm not, trust me. Neither are you. OH. But you forgot about that, didn't you? It's alright. Sometimes I forget too. That's why there is a thing called holding the tongue and remaining humble. How about you take the giant stick out of your eye before removing the tiny speck in theirs.
536: So what are you saying?
316: (turns around) I'm saying we're ALL human. Own up to that.
062: I'm telling you, man. If you think something isn't right about that kid, keep your eyes on him.
238: Chill, all of you. I'm just getting to know him.
