Chapter 10

364 days till time is up

Jessie's POV

I walked into the hospital room where Rhett was lying in the bed, lifeless. I sat on the chair beside the bed and hung my head. Soon there were tears dripping off my face and making small wet spots on the white bed sheet.

"Rhett." I whispered. "I forgive you." I sobbed. "And I love you." I reached ok and grabbed his hand to hold while I cried.

Rhett's POV

I was standing by my bed where my body lay with my heart being pumped and my lungs breathing by a machine. I sighed, thinking about the decision I have to make to save my life.

I heard the door open and Jessie walked in. Some silent tears from the guilt fell and I placed face in my hands. I wanted her to know I was here and alive and was going to survive but I couldn't. Suddenly I felt something warm touched my hand tightly. I looked up and Jessie was holding my hand.

"I love you too." I said. "But I also love Christy." Tears continued to fall down my cheeks and I continued to feel comforted as Jessie held my hand. "I'm sorry." I said, sobbing.
