I was reading a 2nd grade level chapter book when mr. Colby came up to me.

"Hi hailey I have a question for you."

I put my book mark in my book and close it shut.

"Ok, what the question?"

"I know your only in kindergarten but woukd you like to join the 1st graders at math today?"

i dident know what to say i would be a whole year younger then the kids there what if im the smartest!

"YES!!!"
i scream jumping up and down.

Then came lunch i was excited to see what the staff packed for me.

I sat by my friend braydon he is mr. Culhanes son. His mommy left him with Michael after he was born.

"Braydon! Guess what! Guess what"
I sit by him.

"Umm you have a extra brownie?"

"Well yes but thats not what i wanted to tell you."
I give him my extra brownie taking out my turkey sanwhich.

"I get to have math with the 1st graders!"

"Thats weird im sitting somewhere else."

"But.. braydon"
He walks to another table.

"Im not hungry" i mumble
to myself packing my lunch up.

I get up and walk out of the cafeteria and put my lunch box in my cubby.

I go to my desk and read my book for about 5 minutes.

"Hailey?"
I look up to see mr. Colby.

"Yea?"
He guves me a concerned face and walks up to me crouching to be eye level.

"Lunch dosent end for another 25 minutes?"

"I know i wasent hungry and wanted to read my book."

"Why dont we go meet the 1st graders early my sister monica your mommys best friend is the teacher."

I nod and jump up setting my book on my desk.

I hold his hand and follow him to the 1st grade classroom.

"Monica this is hailey-"
Her face lights up.

"Fallons daughter!"
I hide behind mr. Colby.

"Dont be scared hailey"
He picks me up and i hide my head in his neck.

Before i know it the 1st graders make their way into the door. Jeff puts me down and says his goodbyes and leaves me there.

"Hello class."
Monica says standing at the front.

"Hello mrs. Colby"
They all turn their attention to me.
