Cheta made plans for the night.
"If I perish, I perish" She muttered under her breath.
It was Late Queen Esther's quote but not in this context.
For what did she care?
Cheta couldn't care more if she would perish anymore.
Her body may be bruised tonight but her debt would have been settled. Enough of the bullying from Felix Ezeji, her creditor who wouldn't let her be until she paid in kind at least. She stared briefly at the mirror and thought she heard a voice. "Cheta!"
There was obviously no one in the room except her. Amaka her friend had gone for the Praise vigil at the church which Cheta refused to go with excuse of being tired. She was actually tired.
Tired of the 'God thing'. Tired of no visible results. How much patient can she be?
She would give in. Tonight.
Felix even promised her a job. He even seems to be a good person. She thought, making excuses for him.Ignoring the voice, she headed for the door. Her feet hit against the wooden cabinet by the side of the bed.
"Ouch!"
She bent to soothe the bruised toe, and her blouse got caught by the sharp edge of the bed. She made to stand and the blouse tore."Cheta!"
The voice again.
Disappointed by the events but determined to make her move tonight, Cheta quickly changed her dress to the nice dress that Sister Blessing gifted her last sunday. She had not worn the dress before. It was a black dress. The black dress stayed well on her body and she was happy.
Then she looked at the mirror and the reflection staring back at her. It literally screamed her name.
This time, she understood it wasn't just her name, the customised dress had the inscription:🅒🅗🅔🅣🅐🅒🅗🅘!!!
She froze.

"Oh Lord, I'm sorry. How could I have forgotten my Lord, my Saviour? How did I get so carried away? Thank you for reminding me. Forgive me Lord."
Cheta remembered.
The daughter of whom she was. She was also a servant, a friend, an ambassador too.
She wouldn't trade these for a trap meal.Oftentimes, we forget when life gets in the way so hard and fast. Our backs against the wall and it feels like the only option is to give in. So we throw caution to the wind and perhaps we suffer amnesia. We forget God temporarily (May it not be permanent, amen).
I know He calls out to us but we get too carried away by our actions and decisions that we don't hear. Other times, the noise of the world gets too loud, our minds and ears are clouded.May we hear His call and retrace our steps.
May we also be God's means of reminding someone out there of Him.
By whatever means, I pray we be such reminders on earth.🅒🅗🅔🅣🅐🅒🅗🅘
