Chapter One // Rose
December 1, 2018
In the cold of the Scottland December morning chill, the comfoter layers that would normally suffocate me didn't hold heat in well enough. Wasn't that a lovely way to wake up. Especially on the day you turn twelve. Yes, it was my birthday, and I was extrememely excited. Last year the day fell on a Friday, and I was stuck in class all morning. But today was Saturday, and nothing was going to go wrong.
I had spoken much too soon.
I walked to the Great Hall with my cousin, Roxanne, and my best friend, Sara. Roxanne was a Gryffindor, through and through. She was courageous enough to fight for what she believes in, and brave enough to stop when things went too far. Sara was a Slytherin, and it wasn't hard to believe. Stealth was her strong suit. She was almost a Ravenclaw, and that worked to her advantage. She was manipulative and sly, stealthy and sneaky. But never cruel or malicious. No, those were untrue rumors spread about Slytherins, silly presumptions made based on a select number of students who acted that way. A rude stereotype that could never fade away for so much bais is placed on that factor.
Upon sitting down, a large white snowy owl flutters down towards me. I smiled slightly; I adore animals.
"Earth to Rosie! Letter, you idiot!" Sara lectured, shaking me around; I just grinned sheepishly, pulling the letter from the pouch.
I hoped I knew what it was. I really hoped it was what I was hoping for. It had to be what I was hoping for. What else could it be?
To Ms. Rose Weasley,
Please come to Headmaster Dumbledore's Office as soon as you recieve this notice. It may not seem important, but you will understand eventually.
I wish you the best of luck, dear.
Signed,
Anonymous.
I sighed deeply. I could kiss my perfect birthday goodbye. I should have known it wouldn't be from dad. He always forgets. But I can't blame him, he probably has a lot on his mind.
"Come on guys," I tell Sara and Roxanne. "We have to go somewhere."
Yep. I'll add this to my list of the worst birthdays ever.
