"don't look away."romeo's face flushed at the proximity, holding his breath as to not touch the other- at least, not any more. his cobalt blue eyes were blown wide open, eyelashes flickering in rapid, unbelieving blinks.
"can you feel it?" noel asked, a gently charming smile on his face as he pressed the soldier boy's hand to his chest. his heart was racing. romeo felt the rapid thumps under his palm, and instinctively gripped onto noel's shirt.
"i can," romeo mumbled, almost shying away from the white-haired boy's gaze. "it's not nervousness is it?"
"hmm... well," that sparkling smile again. "it's true i am a bit nervous but... it's mostly excitement. what about you?"
"me...?" romeo questioned slowly, not even noticing how their noses touched, how he could feel noel's breath, and how their eyes, inches apart, gazed so intensely into the other's. "i feel... content."
that was definitely something unexpected, romeo thought, as noel leaned back for a moment, most definitely caught off guard. "content?"
"yes, its... its that... with you... i mean, you're- well, i..." romeo stumbled over his words, pursing his lips at the end and glancing to his hand on noel's chest.
noel, ever the expert at understanding, held romeo's hand, slowly lifting it off, concerned that the other had been uncomfortable. "it's okay! you don't have to force it-"
but before he could finish, romeo took noel's hand and firmly pressed it against his own chest, cobalt eyes drifting back up to meet noel's violet. "i'm at a loss for words with you. and... at the same time, i have so much to say."
noel was truly speechless.
"you're all i've ever wanted from the world." romeo began, his eyes drifting back down to noel's hand, held by his own, in slight embarrassment. "all those years wishing... i wondered if there really was room in this world for me. and now there is." his hand tightened its hold on noel. "it's with y-"
but as always... noel was quite the understanding boy. and before romeo could finish his declaration, their lips met.
