Third Person P.O.V

Rin looked down at her feet. She couldn't believe it. She thought the first one could be wrong so she took two more. All three were positive.

"Fuck..." She mumbled.

She couldn't tell Father Fujimoto or Yukio. How could she possibly tell them about that boy? How he...how he drugged her and then....she just couldn't tell them about it. It was way too painful.

The morning sickness was thankfully easy to cover. It's what made her slowly think that she was pregnant. It's why she took the tests after a few days of it not going away. She knew she was probably pregnant, but she didn't want to believe it. Looks like she had to face it now that the tests showed that she really was pregnant.

The thought of abortion quickly came and went. She couldn't do that. Rin hated the guy that did this to her, but it wasn't the baby's fault. Plus, Rin was way too caring and nice to hurt the thing growing inside her. Yeah, she was young, she was 15 for Christ sakes, but she thought she could handle something like this. She already felt a bit attached to the baby inside her anyways so getting rid of it was out of the picture.

She paced her room for a bit. She was thankful everyone was sleeping. Also, that she was the only girl and didn't have to share a room with anyone. She could hide this for the next two months, but then what? She'd have to explain when she starts to show. After a lot of pacing, thinking, and a bit of crying Rin made a decision. Once she started to really show she'd run away. She'll get a job, so she'll have some money to travel. She'd take a train to a town far away from here, find a secluded house, and live there.

That sounded like a great idea. Rin smiled at herself. She felt smart for thinking of this plan. She'd have time to make money, spend time with her family, and to process being a Mom. This should work out well.

Two months later

Rin grabs her bag. She looks through her wallet and counts the money. After doing that she pulls on a jacket. She pulls the hood over her head before leaving the monastery. It started to snow as she left. A small smile appears on her face. Carefully she made her way to the bus stop. After waiting half an hour, the bus showed up. She gets into the bus, pays, and sits near the front. She watches as buildings slowly turn into grassland and then into woods.

After three hours she gets off in a small town. She rubs her stomach slightly before going towards a small motel.

She walks in and notices it was really warm and comfortable inside. There was a bar with two people sitting there quietly talking to each other. The bartender was cleaning and also talking with the two people.

Rin walks to the front desk where a nice-looking old lady sat. Her gray hair was put into a tight bun. She was a bit shorter than Rin. She wore a long black dress with a light gray jacket over herself. Her face was a bit wrinkly. Her eyes were a bright blue color. She was flipping through a book and typing on a calculator. From what Rin could tell she was dealing with some bills.

"U-Ummm, excuse me?" Rin stuttered slightly.

The old woman looks up at Rin. She smiles warmly while moving her book and calculator to the side.

"Why hello there. What's a young girl like you doing here?" The old woman asked.

"Ah, well, I need a place to stay. I-I umm, wanna move here. I'm pregnant and-well, it's a long story" Rin nervously laughs.

"Oh, poor thing. Let me guess, your family kicked you out after finding out?"

"Ummm, kinda. It's complicated. I wanted to know if maybe there were any houses in the woods nearby for sale?"

"Oh, yes! My husband's old house is in the woods behind here. I live here now so it's not being used. You can stay there. I can even get you a job nearby. My brother owns a nice store right down the road. He'll love to have your help. Plus, I'd hate to leave you in a rough place"

"Oh my, I-Thank you so much"

"It's no problem dearie. I know what it's like being a single Mom. It's hard. I would hate for you to go through what I did"

Rin sniffles slightly as tears slowly roll down her face.

"Thank you! I'll do my best to help you out from now on! I owe you one after this!!" Rin says.

"Oh Sweetie. Don't worry. You don't owe me anything. Just pay me rent and take care of yourself" The old woman replies.

She grabs a small ring with two keys. The old woman moves around the counter and hands the keys to Rin. As Rin takes them, she hugs the old woman.

"Again, Thank you" She mumbled.

The old woman hugs her back. After a minute Rin pulls away from the hug. She quickly wipes away her tears. She smiles at the old woman before suddenly realizing she didn't ask for the woman's name. She bows slightly.

"I'm so sorry. I forgot to ask your name! I'm Rin" Rin quickly says, before slowly standing straight up.

"Oh Sweetie, it's fine. I'm Kioko. But most people around here just call me Grandma or Mom. It's a small town so everyone knows each other. They'll ask you some questions at first but I'm sure you'll fit right in. Now, you should go and get some sleep. There is still furniture, water, and power in the old house, so you'll be able to stay comfortably for the night. As you get paid you can change what you want with the place" Kioko said, smiling at Rin.

"Thank you! I'll go now! I can start working tomorrow" Rin said.

She was about to leave but stopped. She turns to the old woman and gives her a nervous smile.

"You guys do have a doctor or something around here, right?" Rin asked.

"Of course. You can have a checkup tomorrow before you go to work" Kioko replied.

Rin happily nods before leaving through the back door. She notices a path that leads into the woods. She follows it for a few minutes. After a bit of walking, she ends up at a small two-story house. It was small but cute. She smiles and uses the key to get inside.

After looking around she went to the master bedroom. She smiles and lays down on the sheets.

The anxiety she felt was still there, but it wasn't as bad as before thanks to Kioko. She missed Yukio and Father Fujimoto, but she knew they'd tell her to get rid of the baby. She just couldn't do that. She'd feel terrible.

Rin looks down at her stomach. She smiles and rubs both hands over her slightly showing belly.

"I'll protect you little one. I promise. I love you" Rin whispered.

She yawned and stretched out her body. Rin lays down on her side. After a few minutes she falls into a deep sleep.
