Chapter 6:
Introducing the dream boyfriendKaty was doing exactly what Lorraine told her not to. She was stalking Josh on FB.
First, she thought she would do something productive like change her relationship status. But somehow she ended up in his profile.
The profile picture was still the same. It was a close-up of him and katy lying on the grass of The Bowl.Their pictures were still there, too. Katy gritted her teeth. Above his latest status, there was the empty line that said:
"Write something to Josh."in faded letters. Suddenly Josh's semi-cryptic post vanished and Katy's heart jumped for joy.
But only for a few seconds. The Write-something-to-Josh window had also disappeared. It was at this moment Katy's eyes registered a new line above his Intro. It asked:
"Do you know Josh? To see what he shares with friends, send him a friend request."
"WHAAAAT?" Katy screamed in her room. "He BLOCKED me?"
She was so angry she almost tore her hair off. She was grinding her teeth.
"Wait, he didn't realy block me. because I can still see his old posts. He just... de- friended me. But, what difference does it make?!"
She slammed her laptop close in anger and dove to her bed before a sob could escape her lips. She buried her face in her pillow, screaming herself.
At five pm, her pa came home from the auto repair shop carrying the ingredients for chicken soup because he thought Katy was still sick. He also insisted on cooking for her that night. Katy was touched and hugged her pa, but she also told him that she was getting better.
She volunteered to wash the dishes after they had eaten even though her pa told her to leave them on the sink.
That wouldn't fly at all when her ma got home later. When Mr. Lapuz had dozed off in his chair and she got back to her room, Katy saw a notification on her phone screen.
*My Dream Boyfriend successfully installed*and noticed a brand new icon on her second screen.
She clicked the app. The screen went dark as the app downloaded some more. There was a Small meter to keep her updated on the progress. The screen continued downloading with the steadily beating heart.
Finally, the meter reached 100% and the screen became brightened. The next second, Katy was looking at the illustration of an oven.
Words floated above it saying:
*Making a boyfriend is just like baking cookies. If you add the right amount of love And just follow your nose He'll come out all warm and gooey.*
When the words vanished, a small window appeared next to the oven.
There were five tabs above it.
