sanaii's mother asks her, sipping on tea while sitting on the kitchen counter. "it was fine, i think i made some friends today— oh, i seen bakugo today too." sanaii says, almost making her
mom spit out her tea.
"the nigga from third grade??" she asks with a surprised expression. sanaii nods, "he seemed surprised to see me too." she walks in the kitchen to steal a grape from her mom's bowl.
"girl– keep stealing my damn food." she points at her grinning daughter. "dad off work today?" "mhm, he upstairs i think." she says, now getting off the counter. on cue, sanaii's dad, desmond, comes downstairs in sweatpants and a t-shirt.
"oh hey nai." he walks over to her and kisses her forehead, "how was school?" he asks, coming in the kitchen. she shrugs, "it was okay. i seen bakugo today." hakeem almost trips.
sanaii throws her arms up, "why are y'all so surprised that i seen him today?" she asks. "we ain't, it just caught us off guard." hakeem answers, now drinking a bottled water. "well, how is he?"
adeya asks curiously. "he seems fine, his voice is deep and he a lil taller than me now." she says. they nodded, "oh– i think your nana supposed to be coming over." she says.
"well, i'm going to my room now so.." she shrugs, walking upstairs. she changes from her uniform into some comfortable clothes, laying in her bed and grabbing her book from under her bed.

"sanaii, come down and eat." her mom walks in her room, walking back out with the door cracked. sanaii looks up from her book, leaving a bookmark and getting up.
she walked downstairs and to the kitchen stove. so that's what the fuck i smelt earlier.. two pots of chicken alfredo and shrimp alfredo and a pan of cheese biscuits were on the stove. see, i knew momma loved me.
she grabs a bowl and fills it with chicken alfredo and grabs two biscuits, going to the table were the rest of them were. her grandma and step-aunt were also sitting at the table, eating.
"oh hey pookie." her grandma greets her with a sweet smile, while her step-aunt didn't say a word. "hi nana." she greeted her, sitting next to her mom.
"ma, where's dad?" "he went to go pick your cousin up." she nods, now eating her food. the table was silent for a few minutes, until her aunt broke it.
"sanaii, how does it feel to be in class 2A? you know, my daughter was a teacher's assistance once when she was there." she says with a fake smile.
sanaii looked up from her food with a confused expression. "o..kay?" she goes back to eating her food. "yeah, the teachers loved her, constantly said she was a good student.. maybe you should take some notes." she says.
"pam, ima need you to stop comparing your grown ass woman of a daughter to a whole teenager– sorry mama." adeya apologizes. "oh calm downn, it's just a joke." she rolls her eyes.
"so you think comparing two completely different people is funny? you know– you have some serious issues, like you actually need help." "i'm just lending some tips so that she can be a perfect student like mines was, it's not a big deal." she shrugs carelessly.
i wonder what would happen if i just.. choke slammed her shit. sanaii shook her head to get rid of the intrusive thoughts and brung out her phone.
pam eyes her and rolls her eyes, "sanaii, you know you shouldn't be on your phone at the dinner table right?" she asks sarcastically. "i could honestly care less." "pam, leave dat girl alone." nana hit her arm.
"mama, how're you gonna get on me about my manners, when she does the same and literally gets no backlash??" she asks. "you didn't even have a phone, what're you talking about?" adeya asks confusedly.
"this convo doesn't involve you–" "oh hey y'all." hakeem comes through the door, a baby car seat in his hand. "oh hey baby." nana waves at him, coming from the kitchen.
"awwh, is that my baby ty–" "this ain't yo baby, sorry." he pushes past pam and goes towards adeya, kissing her cheek. adeya smiles and takes her nephew-in-law out the seat. "sanaii, could you get him please? i gotta clean up right quick."
she nods, taking tymir from her and walking away from the table. "probably can't even handle the damn baby.." pam grumbles and walks away from the table as well.
"pam, leave ha alone– ion know how many times i gotta tell you that shit, she ain't do nothin to ya ass." nana calmly scolds her. sanaii walks upstairs and to her room, closing the door.
"ya family is annoying." she tells tymir, as if he can even talk anyways. she grabs a soft, plush pillow from somewhere and lays him down on it. she sucks her teeth, "she ain't even give me yo bag.."⎯⎯ ୨ 𝐅𝐈𝐍𝐈𝐒𝐇𝐄𝐃 ୧ ⎯⎯
