Chapter 5- School rules

Kiera woke up with a terrible headache.

Phronesis was the first person she saw the moment she woke up. Phronesis is sitting on Kiera's bed.

"Hey, Kiera you alright?" Phronesis worriedly looked at her.

Kiera looked around the room. She notice that she wasn't in the cafeteria anymore. She asked Phronesis about what happened.

"You fainted at the cafeteria because you haven't eaten anything. I took you back to our dorm." Phronesis said. "I saw a lot of students dying in the cafeteria. Please tell me that was all just my hallucinations." Phronesis frowned. She looked away, avoiding Kiera's desperate sad eyes.

"I wish I could tell you that it was, but it wasn't."

Kiera was quivering in fear.

"All of those students... they died... Why!? What is this school?!" Her voice was shaking. Kiera was furious and confused. "I've been trying to tell you. You shouldn't be here. They kidnap teenagers and many people. They put them at this place to die."

Kiera didn't know what to do. All she could think about was her beloved family.

"Am I never going home? I-I'm just gonna die here?! M-my family..." Kiera was stuttering. She suddenly burst into tears.

She started to think of her father and grandmother. All their memories together came flooding back to her.

Phronesis was sad to see Kiera helplessly crying. She pats her back, trying to comfort her.

"There, there, it's alright Kiera. I can help you get out of here. I have been here long enough to know this place very well. I can help you escape, I promise." Phronesis' gentle voice was soothing Kiera.

Kiera looked at Phronesis with teary eyes. "How will we escape?"

"First you gotta know the rules and how to avoid every evil thing the teachers do to kill you."

Phronesis started to dictate the school rules.

"Students aren't allowed to leave school grounds until the school year is over."
"Students aren't allowed to rebel against the teachers."
"Classes start at 6:30 and ends at 7:30 p.m."
"All students must stay in their dormitory after 7:30 p.m."
"There shall be no contact outside the school walls."
"Students are allowed to kill one another if challenged for battle."

"Students are not allowed to stay at the dormitory after 6:30 a.m."
"If any students try or plan to escape, they shall be sentenced to death."

"How do we escape if we will be killed?" Kiera asked. "We just have to keep it a secret from everyone. We must have a strategic plan." Phronesis answered.

All of a sudden the door burst open.

"Kiera are you here?!"

Kiera and Phronesis were surprised by the sudden interruption. Kiera looked at the person who entered the room. It was Luke.

"Luke, aren't you supposed to be at class right now?" Phronesis glared at Luke. Luke just ignored her and approached Kiera.

"Kiera are you okay?" Luke's worries were evident in his tone. Kiera assured Luke that she was just fine.

Phronesis was furious. "Luke it is absolutely rude to barge in a lady's room." Luke clicked his tongue and glared at Phronesis. "I think I have every right to be concerned Phronesis. I was there when Kiera fainted. Why are you here anyway? Aren't you supposed to be busy being a teacher's pet?!"

Phronesis stood up and grabbed Lukes's collar. "You better take back what you said! You're just jealous that I'm smarter than you! You are only pretending to be a hero in front of Kiera!"

They look like they were about to hit each other with their fist. Kiera quickly stepped in between them. "Stop it! We're put here to die and the last thing we want is to kill each other!"

Phronesis and Luke stayed quiet.

Kiera turned her attention to Luke. "Luke, you said you've been here for two weeks right?" Luke nodded. "Do you wanna escape?" Luke was shocked to hear those words.

"Of course. More than anything."

Kiera told Luke that they plan to escape. "Escape?! Kiera many have tried and failed. We'll die if we try to escape!"

Phronesis smirked and said, "Then let's kill them before they kill us"
