Hoax - Taylor Swift

An urgent knocking on Katia's door interrupted her morning.

"Come in," she called, swiveling towards the door. Xander, her head guard, and her most loyal companion entered, a grim look on his face.

"My queen, we've caught her," he announced.

Katia's heart turned cold. Camille. How long had she waited for this moment?

"You're sure it's her?" she asked weakly, still in disbelief.

"Yes, ma'am. Your ministers are requesting your presence to decide her fate."

"I'll be there soon."

"Thank you, my queen. I'll let them know," Xander bowed deeply before leaving the room.

"Thank you, Sylvie, you may leave," she said tersely, addressing her handmaiden who had been braiding her hair.

"Yes, my queen," Sylvie said gently.

Katia softened for a moment, shooting Sylvie a smile of gratitude. Their eyes met, and a thousand unspoken words passed between them. Nodding, Sylvie shut the door softly, leaving Katia to her solitude.

Katia groaned, burying her head in her hands. Memories flooded her mind against her will.

To put it plainly, Camille had been her lover. The first person Katia had ever trusted with her body and heart.

Camille had been one of Katia's warriors. Deadly and efficient, her military prowess exceeded those of her men. Naturally, she quickly rose up the ranks of the army, and at the same time gained the attention of the queen.

Katia had always been intrigued by the girl. The way she carried herself with strength and grace. Her insightful thoughts during their strategy meetings. Her sharp wit that rivaled Katia's.

They began seeing each other more and more. Short exchanges about strategy soon turned into long personal conversations, where Katia would lean on Camille for comfort.

Katia couldn't explain it. She had never shared a connection so deeply with someone before. Camille just understood her so fundamentally. Katia could trust her, could let down her walls. Things were simple with Camille. Joy never ceased, and conversion was easy with no ulterior motives.

One day, their soft touches melted into a fiery kiss full of love and lust.

From that day on, they were inseparable. Katia loved Camille with all her heart.

It was perfect until it wasn't. They fought, and Camille left her.

Once Camille left, Katia broke. She was heartbroken, burdened by grief and pain. She should've been suspicious and seen the signs, but instead, she had been a hollow husk, a body just going through the ritualistic motions of life.

It was also because of her negligence that the rebels struck hard. Camille had somehow secretly collected intelligence and forged alliances during her time in the castle. She had used all of Katia's secrets against her, to hit where it hurt the most.
