*Years later*
This is the best day of your life. It is the happiest you ever felt. It is graduation day. You and Niall have become really close friends over the years. You only feel so happy, because you made it. You survived high school. You knew that now it was time for a fresh start, you’ll have to get ready for university.
You and Niall are sitting next to each other at grad, even if it goes in order by last name. As you sit there, and look around, you can’t help but smile. Why? All the memories are coming back to you. Memories never die, even if people change. So many of these people who were bad to you were different now, everything was so different.
Life itself was so different. Since your mother’s death, you had been different. Your perspective on many things was changed and became more hopeful and positive.
“Hey babe, you’re going to the after-grad party, right?” Niall asks. You know you don’t want to go, but then again it is the only chance in your life and you’ll miss out big time.
“Of course!”
“Great.”
The graduation ceremony is very lively and happy. When you hear your name and you go on the stage, you get a weird feeling. Your cheeks hurt from smiling so much; it’s the first real smile in years.
High school; it is weird how something so simple represents so much. It’s something that everybody complains about, because they do not want to go to school. You know the amount of times you faked sick or you skipped classes because you didn’t like school, but today you realize that even though you really dislike it, you’ll miss this place. Every moment becomes a memory, which creates stories. Good or bad stories, it’s all what makes life worthwhile. High school may not have been the best, but it took over most of your life, and now when you leave, it is like part of your life is going to be missing and it’s time for something new; a new chapter perhaps.
“Hello?”
You feel someone touching your shoulder.
“Da….d…I was just…”
“It’s okay, darling.”
He hugs you tightly and whispers in your ears “I’m so proud of you and I am so sorry.”
You are surprised that he took time out of his busy schedule to come to your grad, you thought he wouldn’t. He said he wouldn’t, because over the years, you were never even close.
You see Niall looking at you and smiling. You introduce him to your father for the first time ever.
After chatting for a while, your dad’s phone rings and he leaves.
“So, uh do you where you’re going after, now that school is over?”
“Thinking about moving.” You tell Niall.
“Where abouts?”
“I don’t know, France maybe.”
“Paris? Tu m’emmènes avec toi, ma chère?”
“Niall...I don’t understand french.”
“Je t’aime. You know what that means right?”
“That’s easy stuff, yeah. I just…That’s why it’d be good to go there, to learn more French! Also, to be alone for a few months and being free to doing anything.”
“Except Niall doesn’t want some French guy to catch your attention, because Je t’aime!” Niall exclaims. You realize he’s serious; he is smiling and then he hugs you. It feels weird, because he never did that before. You guys have just been really close friends all these years, even if you have always loved him.
