[five hours before the outbreak.]

Hyusan Highschool had been enforcing this new late policy for about a month now - everyone later than 7:30 am would get a Saturday detention. Still, none of the students seemed to care enough about the possible punishment to wake up five minutes earlier than usual, Na-Bi included.

She wasn't usually this late, always having at least five minutes to spare, but Oji had felt sick this morning (Na-Bi had told him not to eat 4 cups of noodles!) and so she had to tend to him as well as call the elementary school to excuse his absence.

Huddled together like sardines in a can, the students of Hyusan Highschool stood by the crosswalk, waiting for a gap between passing cars.

Since she couldn't really see anything, Na-Bi moved with the crowd, taking a few steps forward. She didn't get far though, being pushed back again as the honking of a car resonated in her ears. The girl looked around at her peers, craning her neck to see if the way was clear now.

Having less than one minute left by now, they all ran at full speed towards the school gate as soon as the traffic light turned green.

"Tick-tock, tick-tock, hurry up." Mr Jung called out to them in a monotone voice, keeping his eyes on his watch. The man couldn't care less if the students were on time or not. In fact, he was probably happy when they weren't - handing out detention slips was one of his favourite hobbies.

Na-Bi came to a skidding halt as soon as she had made it past the time guards - as she liked to call them - panting heavily (she should really work out more), but nonetheless continuing her way towards the main building.

"Are you okay?" Na-Bi asked, finally looking up from her phone. Her brows furrowed in concern for her deskmate. Park Hee-Su was sweating like crazy, wiping her sleeve over her face every few seconds.

"Y-yeah." Hee-Su gritted out through clenched teeth, wrapping her arms tighter around her stomach.

Noticing this, Na-Bi came to a conclusion. "You need a tampon or a painkiller or something? I have some in my-"

"No, I'm fine." the Park girl assured, though rather unconvincingly.

Na-Bi sat back up again, stopping the search through her bag. "Okay," She mumbled, guessing that she had made the girl uncomfortable.

"Yah!" Lee Na-Yeon's call grabbed everyone's attention. With a furious expression, the girl hurried towards her desk, which was currently being occupied by Han Gyeong-Su and Oh Joon-Yeong, the latter of which quickly hurried away, not wanting to face the wrath of the Lee girl. Though she was way too occupied with glaring at Gyeong-Su to even notice the other boy. "Get off there! You stink."

"Okay, okay, my bad." the boy quickly apologized, standing up before wiping the table where he had previously sat. "What's the big deal? Sorry, sorry-"

"Stop that! You're so dirty!" Na-Yeon yelled, quickly taking her backpack from the table before the Han boy could touch it.

"What the hell?" Gyeong-Su said, offended by the girl's words.

Na-Bi just rolled her eyes at her antics. Na-Yeon's grumpy behaviour was nothing new, yet it was still as annoying as it was yesterday and the day before that, and the day before that.
