You walk into the coffee shop and take a seat at your usual spot by the bar. Soon after you sit down, screams echo through the already bustling city air. Your eyes dart to the large window at the front of the coffee shop just as a chunk of the building parallel to the one you're in hits the ground and an insect-looking creature takes hold of a woman. She lets out a piercing scream and you can feel your powers seething under your skin, itching to claw their way out. The air crackles with lightning and your body aches to run out the door and help the woman but something holds you in place. The other patrons rush to the back of the shop, one knocking you off your stool as they rush past. You catch yourself before hitting the ground, pulling yourself up to stand tall before steeling yourself, preparing to walk out that door knowing you have the power to help. As you start to walk forward, you hear the people behind you calling for you to stop and not walk out the door. You ignore them and push open the doors, nearly missing a flying stop sign. There's roars in the distance which send a shiver through your spine. You've only ever seen this kind of scene in movies, but this was certainly no sci-fi film. Another insect creature lands in front of you and snarls this gurgly, wet chittering sound. Your powers flare out and hit the creature with a burst of swirling purple clouds.
"Not too fond of the idea of being eaten, big guy." Your powers basically take over like second nature, as if this was what you were meant to do. You make your way across the street to the woman who is still screaming in the hold of the creature, sending others flying through the air screeching. You hit the big guy with a blast just as you had with the others but this one doesn't go down as easily. It drops the lady and starts stomping its way over to you. The woman scrambles to her feet and runs through the doors of the shop to safety. You are once again met face to face with the ugly insect-like thing but you stand courageously. Adrenaline and power pumping its way through your veins. The thing claws at you and manages to slash your side. You double over briefly, clutching your side that is drenching the cloth of your shirt in crimson. A scream rips itself from your throat from the pain. Your eyes start to glow a violet purple when you look back up at the monster. It takes a step back but you have already taken a few strides forward and blast it again with swirls of purple magic. The creature also gets a few hits in as you trade blows but eventually you have it on its knees. With your powers you pick up the stop sign that had flown by you before and plunged it through the creature's chest. Your own chest heaves with the gulps of air you take as you stumble backwards. Your heel catches on the edge of a piece of rubble and you tumble backwards, falling to the ground and onto your back. From this angle you can see the gaping hole in the sky where even bigger creatures are flying through into the Earth's atmosphere. You stare at it. The sky crackles with lightning again, trailing down to somewhere on the ground in the distance. Alien pods whiz past above you and you can see a redhead riding one of them. A laugh bubbles out of your chest at the sight. Something about it mixed with your adrenaline couldn't help but cause you to laugh. Your ears catch a thud followed by heavy footsteps approaching you so you fling yourself to your feet, readying yourself for hand to hand combat.
"I personally do not see the humor in the view before us but I have only been to Midgard a 'handful' of times as your people say." The man before you is tall, buff, equipped with a strange accent, and has offensively beautiful, long, blonde hair. You release your combat stance but remain on the defense as you had been trained to do years before. He swings his... hammer, resulting in a raised brow from you. "Mighty warrior, I saw you fought well. What say you join the fight and help me and my friends rid of these oversized insects?" You chuckle.
"Me? I hardly have much to offer. And..." You look around simply for the effect. "I don't remember seeing you around while I was fighting. How would you know I fought well.?" You challenge the tall man, as is your nature. While you speak, more aliens crowd around you. You pause for a moment and blast them all at once, spearing a few with pieces of rebar. The man towering before you doesn't even flinch when a shard of metal streaks by in front of his face, simultaneously impaling two creatures to his left.
