My name is Lady Cat Technica. I'm the current ruler of the Technica Kingdom. I rule over my kingdom with my husband Tom.
For the first several thousand years of being queen, it was nice. It was more than nice, even. It was wonderful. Everything was going exactly according to plan; there were no invasions or attacks made by rival kingdoms, the citizens adored us, and life in Technica was overall calm and peaceful. Everything was exactly as it should be.
I had always strived to be the best version of myself that I could. I did my best to listen to my subjects' requests, and fulfill them to the best of my ability. I tried to stay open-minded, and never let anything get under my skin. I worked to control my temper, and to not get angry often. But even with my best efforts, I could start to tell it wasn't enough.
The citizens of Technica...my wonderful, loyal subjects, seemed to love Tom more than they loved me. They smiled when they saw me, but they outright cheered when they saw him. It made me feel things I had never felt before. Insignificance. Envy. A lack of true belonging. It felt like the relationship I had built with my subjects was crumbling before my eyes.
Something inside me changed. I started to look at Tom in a different light. I never explained to him what I was feeling, or why, even when he asked if something was wrong. I had to do something, I just had to! But what could I do?
Then, one night, it came to me in a dream. In my dream, I was the only ruler of Technica. There was no Tom. It was just me. In the dream, the citizens loved me more than ever before. I could hear them chanting:
"We love Lady Cat!"
And it made me smile. Everything in the dream felt so right. I knew what I had to do now. I didn't want to do this, but if it would make my subjects love me as much as they did in the dream, I would do it.
I had to get rid of Tom.
Tom, my darling...I'm so sorry I have to do this to you, but...
I won't let you take the adoration of my kingdom away from me.
