So, All-Might just forced a child to eat some of his DNA.
Not the best start to inheriting his quirk, but a piece of hair wasn't that much to swallow in the long run.

Only now, they had to go to U.A since they needed to complete the Hero Course Entrance Exam: A course designed to give students everything they need to go pro. It is, without a doubt, the toughest and most popular hero course in the country, where only 1 in 300 applicants are accepted. And, not only that, but there are its famous alumni, like the No. 1 Hero: All-Might, the No. 2 Hero: Endeavor, and Best Jeanist. For one, it seems like just graduating from U.A. is simply a requirement for becoming a great hero.

And on that day, Izuku and Kacchan would take the practical portion of the U.A entrance exam, even if he still felt a little wheezy from the events that unfolded this morning.

Kacchan and Izuku would walk in together, though the former forced his way to the front with Izuku trailing the back. It's for good reason though, as Izuku was reviewing the material for the written exam and said his thoughts out loud the entire time, making sure to stick it to memory, something that deeply annoyed Kacchan to no end. Though, walking through the gates itself was something that Izuku had to pause his rambling for.

He found that photos could not do U.A. justice, no matter how hard photographers may try. Nothing could truly give the true scale of the tall towers, covered from top to bottom in windows that reflected the morning sky. It consisted of four separate buildings, connected by a bridge that made every side look like a large letter 'H' in shape. Then, there was the foreboding walk there, filled with cherry blossoms and flowering trees that rained petals in the freezing air.
It was a terrific and terrifying building. One that would decide Izuku's future.
Though, Izuku tripped on the way there, saved only by a nice girl with an anti-gravity quirk as Kacchan laughed at his near face plant.

And, by instinct and pure nervousness, Izuku grabbed the cord that emerged from his chest, feeling it wrap around his fingers. It was a source of comfort to know his best friend was here.

But scratched onto the walls of his throat
Were words he would never say.
Said too late for anyone to hear them
And too sorrowful to be said in silence.
So, he bit on his tongue and reminded himself
That he alone held the soul of his friend.
And his bones
Strained
Broke
And shattered
Under the weight of that realization.
...

Thankfully, the written exam went off without a hitch. It may have been long, with Izuku needing to take stretching breaks between each section, but it was worth it. He answered everything he could to the best of his ability, leaving no question blank and writing about his experiences against true evil in the essay portion. Finally, his fight with the Zombie Devil proved to be worth something useful, decidedly not making his life into a whirlwind of pain and blood this time. Kacchan felt the same way if their discussions after the test had any weight to them.

But then, it was time for the practical exam.

For groups hailing from the same middle school, they would be split up and each travel to separate areas for a combat trial, i.e. that Kacchan and Izuku would not be in the same area. Examinees are then given ten minutes to use their Quirks to immobilize robotic villains, scoring points depending on the robot's point value. Similar to a video game, the more points one earns, the higher the chance they'll get into U.A. It was ridiculous, in a way, for middle-school students to participate in such a game. But Izuku still felt the buzz of excitement under his skin traveling through his veins.

However, one thing is for certain: they aren't allowed to fight other contestants, a fact that Kacchan is quite bummed about.

So, after a long lecture, they were each led to the buses that'll take them to their destination, with Kacchan giving a wave goodbye, which is the most compassionate thing he'll do in a competition setting like this. Finally, he was left with a closing remark from Kacchan, where he said: "You better win, shitty Deku, because the stronger you are, the more I can crush ya. So, you better be in the Hero Course with me, you nerd!"
