Xingqiu was sitting at his desk, reading. The sun was setting faintly and the rain was so light and delicate that the little droplets hitting the floor sounded like little wind chimes, it was the perfect time to read.
The air was cold, colder than normal mayhaps. The sudden bursts of cold air into his bedroom were a slight bit unsettling, so he turned off all fans and continued reading.
6:04. 6:05. Time passes a lot slower when nervous, was a lesson learned today. He finally closed his book and decided to investigate. 6:20. 6:21. He couldn't seem to find anything. He checked upstairs, downstairs, even in the attic, nothing. That was until he turned the corner beside his bedroom and...
"C-Chongyun?? What are you doing here, I never invited anyone in! Did I lave the door open again..?"
Chongyun smiled. "Well, I was originally looking for you, but I stumbled upon a box of Blue Raspberry Popsicles, and you know I couldn't resist!! They're so good..." He pouted while licking another popsicle, trying to avoid Xingqiu's gaze.
Xingqiu thought about it for a moment, how maybe he feels guilty, and he finally surrendered. "Alright, fine. Put away the popsicles and I won't tell Xiangling to make you the spiciest dish at Wanmin Restaraunt." He walked back over to his desk and picked up a book. "Would you like to read with me? I have lots of books you'd like, that aren't.. Frozen Treat Cookbooks...-"
Chongyun picked up a book and started reading. It was a poetry book, but he didn't really read the title at all. The literature was interesting, poetry always had a hidden meaning and he was determined to find it all.
He stood up and started walking, and Xingqiu followed. He didn't know where he was going, he just felt like it. The door opened with a faint creak and the sprinkling rain was slowly fading from the sky. He just kept reading, subconsciously noting what was happening around him.
"Good evening, Xingqiu, Chongyun! Come again for a spicy noodle dish~?"
"We're- alright.... thanks." Chongyun muttered, holding hands with the bookworm beside him on accident.
Xingqiu was so happy. So happy that his cru- best friend was right next to him, enjoying the same things as him, smiling under the sunlit-pink clouds. They walked around town together, the world seeming so much warmer, but it didn't bother the duo.
"-nd they lived happily ever after...- Oh! We're home! Chongyun?"
Chongyun was so focused on his book that he lost track of his steps and tripped on a loose woodboard. "Oww... That hurt! You really should patch up that board soon." Xingqiu helped him up, his blue hair tinted soft orange from the window's shade. They were both deep into the rabbit hole of love, but to each other it was invisible. Maybe, just like a poem. So deep into the plot that the connections are irrelevant. Either way...
"And they lived happily ever after, together."
