Scott Matthews was always a good boy, he never got into fights, always turned his assignments in on time, he never bothered anyone. But that was before he met the tall, faceless man. From the moment he entered Scott's life, everything was, completely and totally, for lack of a better word, fucked. And there Scott was, standing just six feet from the tendril flaring, pale, well dressed man.

He had already blacked out twice, once apparently for multiple weeks, and he didn't want that to happen again. He tried screaming, but he couldn't bring himself to open his mouth. He was frozen, unable to even lift an arm. If he could have moved he would have run.

The man retracted all but one of his long, pitch black tendrils. It slowly stretched across the room until it landed on Scott's shoulder, and he instantly fell to the ground, once again, unconscious.

Scott awoke on a damp, warm bed. His clothes and the bed were soaked in blood. There was a foul stench in the room. What had happened? Why did the man bring him here? Who's blood was he soaking in? More questions...

Before he could discover any answers to the endless storm of questions in his mind, he noticed the man, standing in the corner, staring. Scott was sure the man wasn't there when he woke up, he had no idea when the man arrived.

"Scott... Come with me, Scott." The voice seemed to come from the back of Scott's mind, it must have belonged to the man.

"What the fuck do you want with me?!?" Scott was enraged.

"Look around you. You did all of this, I just need you to do more for me." Glancing around Scott suddenly noticed a head and various other body parts piled up in a corner. He wanted to throw up, the stench was one thing, but the sight was horrid... But what did the man mean, Scott did this?

"What do you mean I did this?!? That's impossible! I have no idea where I am! I've never even been here before!"

"Scott, don't you understand yet? All those times you've blacked out, you've been helping me."

"Helping you what?!? Murder people?!? Is that what you want me to believe, that I chopped these people up and just forgot about it?!?"

"Let me help you remember." With those words Scott's head spun, memories of a young boy screaming, and blood spraying with each swing of an axe rushed through his mind. Scott had beat the boy senseless and dismembered his body in that very room. The bed Scott was sitting on was where the boy took his last breath.

"Why, why did I do this?!?"

     "You did what was necessary."

"Who are you?!? Why did you make me do this?!?"

"Because, Scott, it's your birthday, and this is your present. A new life, away from everyone that has ever judged or betrayed you."

"What did that kid ever do?!?"

     "A sacrifice was needed."

     "Sacrifice?!?"

"Yes, I had to see your abilities before I could be sure I needed you."

     "Need me? For this?!? MURDER?!?"

"You have nowhere else to go now. No one will accept you."

Scott broke into tears, he didn't know what to do, who he could turn to.

"I will give you a day to think it over."

With that, the man was gone.
