Suga had had a pretty awful day.
Firstly the kids had been impossible to deal with and with him being new on the job, he didn't have enough experience to deal efficiently with them. Then he had to skip over getting some coffee and having to grade a pile of tests on his lunch break, consequently skipping eating entirely to finish his work.
Everything had gone wrong, so it was absolutely not surprising to find the young teacher in a bar, drinking himself silly just to avoid thinking about all the stress he was feeling.
What he didn't expect, was the obnoxious exclamation he heard as he was downing his shots.
"Well, well, well. If it isn't Mr. Refreshing, what a surprise!"
Suga begrudgingly turned his head to look into the eyes of Oikawa Tooru, shining with his perfect smile. That only made Suga want to punch him, but he replied with a smile of his own. He really didn't want to cause a scene in the only bar distant enough that no one of his colleagues or even his best friend Daichi would find him.
"...Oikawa-san. Good evening."
"Oh come on! Don't be so formal with me!"
Oikawa gestured to the bartender to bring him his order and sat down next to Suga. The silver-haired was not sure why someone like Oikawa would strike up a conversation with him, not to mention actually remembering him from so many years prior.
"I'm sorry then, Oikawa." The current setter's face lit up at the change in tone and smiled quite broadly at Suga.
"So... What's someone cute and put together like you doing here on a Thursday evening? Didn't take you to be the type to drink like this on a weekday."
That ticked Suga off, the weight of the stressful day and the unwanted attention from someone that had been buried deep down in his memories making him snap.
"Well, since I have a stressful job, I wanted to enjoy some time to wind down by myself-"
The shorter one realized that emphasising the last part was childish of him, but he was so frustrated that the words came rolling out of his mouth before he could stop them.
"-and I didn't expect to be dealing with a curious child even when I'm just trying to get wasted on vodka and gin."
He watched Oikawa's face break into a badly concealed laughter.
"Weren't you supposed to be the lovable, fluffy and sweet normal person from that monster's team that was Karasuno? Oh my god, this is too funny."

After a whole night spent talking and drinking with Oikawa, Suga found out they had more in common than what he initially thought. They had drunk way more than what he normally would have, Suga picking up his drinking pace the more he talked with Oikawa.
The athlete was on the road to being pretty wasted, so Suga dragged him out before they started making a fool out of themselves. They ended up on the roofdeck of the building, trying to regain some clarity of mind before actually going back to their lives. It was well over 1 AM and the starry night sky shined over them.
Oikawa not so gracefully threw himself into one of the armchairs, laid out thankfully by the bar they were at. He stared at the stars up in the sky for quite some time before actually speaking up once again.
"You know Suga-chan... I envy you. I wish I had treated Tobio-chan better back when I had the opportunity. But instead here I am at 24 years old, wishing I treated a kid with a bit more compassion since now I feel guilty and I know he will use that resentment to beat my ass into the ground as soon as he gets the chance."
