Brooke's POV
"BABY, YOU LIGHT UP MY WORLD LIKE NOBODY ELSE!"
Everyone sang along as the song blared, and the bass thumped across the living room of some high school kid. This was definitely the most fun I had had in a long, long time. I jumped along with Raha and Ryan belting out the lyrics. I felt a hand grab mine and looked down to see who it belonged to. Ryan had engulfed my hand in his, and he started tugging me towards the kitchen, so I let Raha know where we were going and followed Ryan.
After gulping down a bottle of water, I leaned against the counter and observed Ryan. His eyes have turned into a more definitive Grey, but his hair was still the same black tousled mess it has always been. He had also grown infinitely taller and had a certain positive energy around him.
I still couldn't believe this was happening. Who knew that all my childhood best friends would still be here, in the same hometown I used to call home eight years ago.
Coming back here brought back a lot of memories from my childhood. I remembered being inseparable from Ryan, we used to be attached at the hip , playing and studying together all the time. He was my comfort person back then. We had tried to keep in touch after I shifted to NYC but weren't able to. I had missed him and the others so much. No wonder my parents decided on moving back here after what happened in NYC. Ryan, Raha, Rhea, and Jake were the kind of people worth being around. They were genuinely nice and wanted the best for everyone. I had been back for only one week, but it was clear that they were still the same people I had befriended all those years ago.
Ryan snapped his fingers in front of my eyes, which jolted me back to attention. I blinked up at him and smiled, mentally shaking my thoughts away.
"What are you thinking about Rose? ", he asked. I didn't miss the fact that he called me Rose , my middle name.
'You are as pretty as a rose is and as fierce as a rose's thorn is.' He would always say.
"Nothing of importance, let's go back with water for everyone else, I'm sure they're all thirsty from all the singing. ", I replied.
With a smile and a nod, we carried water bottles back to the living room in search of the rest of our friends.
After searching for them all over the living the room, we finally found them in a room on the first floor. They were all laughing and talking about the Indian Billionaire's recent pre wedding function. Apparently, Rihanna had performed but had mispronounced the bride's name.
We handed the bottles as we took a seat and listened to Raha recount all the shocking things that had happened at the function. After a while, Jake convinced us all that it was time to go home since it was getting late and had our first day of school tomorrow. We couldn't fault him for that, so we bid our goodbyes and went home.
Ryan dropped me off in his car since he did live beside me.
"I'll see you tomorrow Rose, let's just carpool for school, yeah?", he said as he drove up to the gates. I agreed but insisted on taking turns driving since that was only fair. With a chuckle, he bid me goodbye and drove away.
I made my way upstairs to my room, already anxious about my first day tomorrow.~~
So this was the first chapter! It's definitely shorter than the rest, but I hope it's a good enough introduction.
