Lately, minor changes is happening within the mansion that I wouldn't even notice if I did not paid attention carefully. There are new hired maid and staffs that are scattering everywhere, as if they are preparing for something.
I knocked thrice after announcing my presence beyond the door of my father's office. I entered and greeted him politely, I remain standing while lending him the report regarding the investigation of an arsonist who burned the members of Gustin barony.
The maid standing beside father caught my attention again causing our eye to met. She didn't even greet me earlier and always has her head high that makes her seems arrogant.
She smile at me then bowed her head as a sign of greeting even though it is obvious that she is just forced to do it since I am looking at her. I do not know where does the hint of dislike and insignificance in her eyes came from but that is purely infuriating for me.
“You've done well capturing the arsonist. I'll handle the rest of the matter, you should go and take a break,” father complimented me.
“Thank you, father. I shall take my leave,” I responded.
“Here. Read this,” I heard father's voice before I reached the door handle.
“What am I gonna do about this?” the maid's alluring voice that I haven't heard in a while was the last thing I overheard before closing the door.
A maid who doesn't know her place is talking to father informally like that. What's more perplexing is that father let her do whatever she wants that she even gained more authorities than the head maid. They couldn't be in a relationship because that would be absurd, father is not that type of person.
“Oh my. You are still here young master Khalid. Do you still have any bussiness with your father?” the maid appeared from the office. My feet subconsciously paused from walking hence I am standing in front of the office.
“What are your relationship with father?” I asked directly. I do not want to be bothered by thinking about this so I better end it by asking her.
“I am just his maid. Nothing more,” a scriptes answer from her.
“A maid must speak formally to its master.”
Her eyebrows furrowed, “I am currently doing so, young master.”
It seems like further conversion will be not sensible.
“Keep doing that to father.”
“Is that all? Please excuse me,” then she left in the opposite path I am heading to.
That woman gives of ominous feeling to me, I hope that she wasn't brainwashing my father of something.
“What was her name again? Oh. It's Yumi. A cute name for an alluring woman.”
