Five laps... Six laps... Seven laps... Eight laps... Nine laps... Ten laps... Yes! I am finally done. My name is Sarah Fisher and I am fifteen years old. I have dirty blonde hair and brown eyes. Everyone in this small town knows I am a runner. I beat the state record and led my school to victory.
I get my water bottle on the bleachers and walk out.
I walk into the forest behind the track field. I always use the forest as a short cut but this time it was different. Most of the birds were quiet and the usually bright flowers were dead. Leaves were brown and falling from the trees. It was springtime not autumn. The usual tons of animals were no where to be seen. What is going on?
I keep on going, ignoring the warning, into the forest. I stop suddenly. I hear a noise in the bush. I keep on going passing the dead plants and the dead girl. Wait what? I scream.
" Pretty preeettty girl," said a deep voice behind a tall wide tree. The tree seemed to turn black as he spoke. Slowly a black figure came out behind the tree. I stood frozen in shock. The figure wore a black hood and a black cloak that was ripped up at the feet. He was carrying a staff. As he moved the grass beneath the forest burned.
"Hello strange man. Are you from Antarctica? " I asked.
" No..." said the man in the cloak.
"Egypt?"
"No!"
"Ah I know you are from Hawaii, " I said. I seriously need tell this man some fashion advice or his social rating will die here.
"You haven't heard of the Grim Reaper?" he said agressively.
" Oh yeah he is from Disney world! " I exclaimed.
"Disney has got me so wrong..." he said.
" Aren't you suppose to sing and dance?" I asked. No reply was given as I stared at him. He doesn't have a face so how can he talk? He walked closer to me and the black was getting closer as well. He touched me and nothing happened. He raised his staff at me and mumbled to himself. The staff spilled darkness from the top and it went to me. Instead of consuming me it went around me and consumed a tree.
" Why won't you die," He yelled. Suddenly I was scared. I was never scared in my entire life. I was scared for him.
" Why don't you lay down and take a nap, surely you are out of your mind," I said to him. Then I ran. Ran from the darkness and into the light.
The Grim Reaper chased after me. I jumped over a log and a bunch of plants. I turned around and saw the Grim Reaper stuck at the log.
"Abra... Deedsad.... Lolmento...," he said. Darkness chased after me and suddenly the forest swirled around me. It was weird, like the forest got longer.
The forest was oddly quiet as I walked. There was no breeze and no leaves falling. I check for the Grim Reaper but he wasn't there. I walked and then froze. A bird was stuck in the air frozen. An animal stood not moving to my right.
I hear a noise in the tree and a girl jumps down from it.
" Who are you?" I ask.
" Emmie Rosewood, " she said. " And you are?"
"Sarah Fisher, " I said back. "Where am I?"
"Welcome to the Grim's forest," Emmie said.
