"what?!"

"'do not allow yuta-ssi into the palace anymore'?"

the two guards were in shock at what they heard, only getting nod from the black haired man in front of them.

"but yuta-ssi has special permission from prince jaehyun to enter"

"that has been rescinded" the black haired man says, recalling how careful he's supposed to be with lying.

he wasn't surprised by the guard's shock, especially after he spied on the red haired boy and prince, with how close they were earlier. they seemed close, and when the prince would suddenly ask him not to visit him, of course it would have been surprising.

opening up a scroll which was supposedly an announcement from the prince, he shows it to the guards before narrating, " 'being criticized by his aides' bla bla... nakamoto yuta shall no longer have permission to enter the castle grounds"

having no choice but to abide, the guards agree.

"but hey, we just let him enter" one of the guards say, getting a little distracted by the black haired man's curved eyebrows, reminding him of an seagull with opened wings.

"what?"

"he told us he had forgotten his book in the palace"

the man quickly turns on his heels to the the red haired boy entering the palace in a rush.

"shit, he must have heard me" and takes off.

meanwhile, yuta snuck past any guard he saw inside the palace, afraid they might ask him to get out now that he doesn't have permission to enter.

it hurt him when he heard that the prince had given those orders. but he couldn't believe them. as far as he knew, jaehyun wasn't that kind of person. so he was determined to hear those words from the prince himself.

accidentally tripping out of his hiding spot behind a pillar, he was out in the corridor just as he was trying to avoid the guards.

"who's there?" a guard cautiously approached the source of the noise.

"red hair... are you nakamoto yuta?" he asks.

well, there was no point in saying he wasn't. "yes" yuta said with a sigh. now if he left the palace, he may never be able to enter again.

"apologies yuta-ssi, i wouldn't have stopped you if i had known earlier. you can meet the second prince" the guard says with a slight bow.

yuta smiles and quickly walks away. now this was suspicious because if jaehyun had actually asked him not to come anymore, the guards must have already known. assuming it was a fake decree only made him even more determined to know if the prince actually said that.

he went around the building to the tower nearby. he didn't even realize he was taking a longer route for a while, but he didn't have a choice because he didn't know who else had heard about that 'announcement'.

going through the stairs and nearly tripping on them, he was suddenly stopped by something piercing through the air, right in front of his face. an arrow was stuck to the wall after it was fired.

that was precisely aimed, but that wasn't the point. yuta drags his palm under a ribbon tied to the arrow, finding a writing on it which said, 'red haired guest, do not take a step further. leave at once'

and who was yuta to listen?

refusing to turn back, he takes off the arrow from the wall, continuing to search for jaehyun.
