This happened to me a few years back. I was in grade 7, and there was this girl. We were really good friends, for a long time. I helped her get her first boyfriend, and she helped me get mine. It was good for the first few months of the school year, then her birthday came in December. I wasn't able to go to her party, because it was my granddad's birthday, and she completely flipped out on me, saying this would be her last birthday party ever and I was a bad friend because I wouldn't go.
She stopped talking to me until after winter break. When we came back, she acted as if nothing happened. Everything went back to being okay, with little odd fights here and there. Then April came. We had to do a project for The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton, and I finished mine, and she asked if I could help with hers. One of my closer friends was apart of her project, so I said maybe, I would have to ask my parents.
One night, it was a Saturday, She called me asking to help her on this project, but I was babysitting my brother and sister. She told me to get my butt over there, so I called my parents and asked. The said fine, so I got my costume together and headed over to the church across from my house, and went into the parking lot. I told my siblings to bring a friend so they wouldn't be bored. I know had two 7 year olds and two 10 year olds. My friend who I was closer with brought her sister too, so we then had three 10 year olds.
So, we were in a Church parking lot, and my close friend and I were gooffing around since thats what we do, and the not so nice girl, got annoyed, so she started to swear at us. We ignored it, it was nothing new, so we went over to this tiny bus that was sitting in the corner, and checked it out. She started to yell at us to do the project, and got even more angry. She was yelling about killing everyone or killing herself, so we went and started to do the project.
Now, this is where it went really bad. We had planned for a funny dance number at the end, and my sister wanted to be apart of it, so she asked the girl. She said no, and shoved her away. My sister started to cry, so I told the girl to not shove my sister, and she shoved me instead. So I went home, and I told my parents what happened, and they called her parents and she got in a lot of trouble.
The following Monday, I was sick, and when I came back there were some rumors going around. One was that on Saturday when I left, it was -15 degrees celsius, it was raining and they were left at the church for 2 hours. It obviously isn't true, for one, it would be snowing, not raining, since it was below 0 degrees celsius, it wasn't even raining. secondly, they only sat there for 2 minutes, i sat at my window and made sure they got picked up. One of my other friends had also told me that the girl had a voodoo doll, and was stabbing pins in it, and she said it was me.
After I found that out, I told her I didn't think we should be friends anymore, because friends wouldn't do that. This started a whole revolution in our group of friends. There was 7 of us, and the 2 other girls who were there that night stayed friends with her, while the other 3 took my side. I just wanted to ignore it, and not do anything, but she had a few snarky comments, and the people who hung out with me struck back, and thats what got us in trouble. All 7 of us got called into the counselors office, and they made us tell them everything.
We talked, but weren't friends anymore. We just stayed hostile and platonic. I moved schools after that summer break.
