"Well you don't need to wait for us if you don't want to!" Even through her haze of exhaustion (Beatrice had not slept a wink) she recognized Hermione's stern voice immediately. Turning the corner on the stairs landing, Hermione, Ronald, and Harry came into view. Ronald's arms were crossed and he looked like he was pouting. Stubborn git, Beatrice thought to herself.

She couldn't help but notice that his freckles did not help when she wanted to be angry with him. They somehow made him likeable. What. He wasn't likeable. He was Ronald Weasley, one of 4 redheaded menaces currently residing at Hogwarts. She groaned in frustration at her thoughts, accidentally alerting the trio of her presence. She did an awkward salute, and while wishing she was dead, walked the rest of the way down the stairs.

"I told you she wouldn't be too much longer! Morning Beatrice." Hermione said pointedly at the boys.

"Oh, were you waiting for me?"

"No, we were waiting for Nearly Headless Nick." Ronald answered sarcastically.

Beatrice ignored his comment, allowing Hermione to lead the way to the Great Hall. They chose a spot near where Fred and George sat, whispering with Lee Jordan.

"Hermione, did you finish all your homework last night?"

"No, but nearly all of it." She looked tired too, overworked.

"Wanna go to Hogsmeade this weekend?" Beatrice invited the girl.

"But it isn't a Hogsmeade weekend..."

"So? I've been craving butterbeer for months. Nothing, and I mean nothing will stop me." she smirked. "Oh fuck, you're a prefect aren't you... Shit forget I said anything."

"I won't tell on you for thinking about doing something. If you buy me chocolate?"

"Sounds like a deal. I wonder who I could sucker into going with me then."

"We're free, if you don't mind us tagging along?" Harry asked. "I need something to help me procrastinate Snape's essay." He smiled, and it seemed genuine.

"Yeah, alright." she turned to Ronald. "We need to talk."

"What-" she nodded towards the doors of the Great Hall, and he fell silent, following her out.

She walked fast, and it took him a while to catch up to her, and when he finally did, she was leaning against a window sill.

"I'm gonna be the bigger person, because honestly coming up with comebacks and insults is tiring me out." he smiled a little, shocked at her being so straightforward. "I'm sorry for what I said about your family. I know that everyone has their own problems. You all seem like good people. Except for Percy. He was a bitch."

Ron full-out smiled at that and even laughed a little. "I'm sorry too. I get angry when people with money complain about things. I didn't even think about what your life would actually be like."

They fell into silence. It was awful for both of them. She hated silence, and he wanted so badly to ask her a question.

"So uh-" they both started at the same time. "You go first," Beatrice said.

"Oh, er okay. I was gonna ask... how's your hand doing? Hermione's working on an antidote for you and Harry." That was not what he was going to ask. He wanted to know more about her home life. About her mom, and how on earth she thought it was okay to hurt her daughter.

"It hurts." she chuckled lightly. "Not as bad as it did though. I hit it on the wall the other day, mother fucker that hurt."

"Yeah, Harry's been tossing and turning in his sleep, complaining about it."

"He talks in his sleep?" Ron nodded smiling. "Oh, yeah um I was gonna say that you and Harry are welcome to join me this weekend. If you want."

"Harry and Hermione have taken a liking to you, and I've got to be honest I just don't see it- hey! I'm kidding, I'm kidding. Yes, I'll come."

"Cool, I'll meet you both in the common room at 7 am on Saturday."

"7 am-"

"Bye Ronald!"

On her way to lunch, she was pulled into a corridor just off her path. Draco was breathing heavily and seemed enraged.

"Why are you hanging out with that redhead?"

"What, would you prefer I go out with Ginny?"

"YOU'RE GOING OUT WITH THE WEASLEY!" he yelled. A group of 2nd years yelped and ran past.

"Oh my gosh, no, relax. Harry, Ron and I are just going to Hogsmeade for a bit." she shrugged, completely forgetting that she wasn't supposed to mention the chosen one around him.

"You're going with Potter?"

"What, you jealous?" she smirked. "Oh Harry, I love you so much even though I have to act like I hate you," She moaned, making fun of the way he acted when he was drunk. It had been last year, after the yule ball, when he'd snatched some fire whiskey and they spent the night in his dorm drinking themselves silly. He had accidentally admitted to having feelings for his sworn enemy. Beatrice knew he didn't still feel this way, but she liked to tease.

"Shut it!" He threw his hand over her mouth. She let out a small laugh and pulled his hand away from her face. "Why are you hanging out with them? I thought I made it clear-"

"I thought I made it clear that while you are my best friend I am allowed to talk to whoever I want!" She yelled back. Her voice turned from playful to annoyed quickly. He was shocked by this. She didn't raise her voice often. Even more rarely did she raise her voice at him. He grumbled something, then stalked away.

She rolled her eyes and spun around, pissed off. She decided she'd grab something in between one of her classes later, she'd lost her appetite.

super short chapter because i needed a way to move on from the fight. it may be rather fast paced but honestly i feel like they're the kind of people to just move on after a while.
