(I love my Greek Myth Corpse to much, so he's back)
(Not really a romance, lemme know if you like these :)

Ptōma was told to be to first son born if Hades and Kore, Persephone if you will. His birth was rather easy, compared to the birth of Persephone's other children.

He kind of just fell out. When the time came, he was small and pale, The King and Queen thought he was dead. But when Persephone held her son, ready to throw him into Styx, he cried. The wail that left his tiny lungs shook the Earth and broke all of Greece into a plague, typhus fever and smallpox.

The tiny infant grew fast, reaching maturity in just 7 days. And the God of Corpses became a master of his craft, collecting the physical bodies of the Dead, as their soul left for Hades.

He used the bodies to grow the plants his mother wished for. Burying them in Elysium and letting the trees sprout over the once-living.

After all, they had to go somewhere.

One day, Ptōma met a woman, a loyal follower of his, and one of the few. To him she was more beautiful then Aphrodite herself. The silk peplos she wore was tighter then most. Something Zeus demanded if the minor god were to have his own temple.

Said god was seen frequenting the temple, mingling with the temple women, luckily for Ptōma, the one his eyes burned for hadn't been noticed by Zeus, for the hood over her head and hunched form, hiding her as an elderly woman. Was only removed in the privacy of a prayer room she made behind Ptōma's grand statue.

He quickly fell in love with the Mortal, taking his fathers example and pulling her to the underworld by her ankle. Causing her skin to blacken with the imprint of his hand.

In the underworld he treated the Mortal like a princess, feeding her grapes and other fruits. Making her stay in the underworld.

At first, the Maiden couldn't adjust. Hiding behind the thick robes of her new Husband. And he protected her throughout her fears. But as soon as she adjusted, he had allowed her to breach the surface on occasion. Though he was never far behind.

He spent an eternity with the Mortal. Until Zeus had gotten his hands on her. She had tried to run. But one can only escape the king for so long.

Ptōma was filled with rage. It had formed a physical body, this rage. A plague rattled the world. Humans falling in masses. They called it the Black Plague. Even his maiden caught the plague. Her death was longer then most.

Some say that after the Plague, Ptōma disappeared from the world. His temples torn down. His name erased from the books. That is why our dead remain for a long time before finally joining their soul in Hades. Some never leave the Earth all together.
