Josie POV
Lizzie had been questioning me about why we were acting weird since it happened. I just asked her to drop it, and she did, but not immediately. It's been a few days, and Hope and I have barely talked. We work on the prodject at school, but even then, only a few words are exchanged. I'm not avoiding her or anything, but it feels like she's avoiding me. Maybe she isn't, and I'm just being paranoid.
It's a Tuesday, which means Lizzie has practice today. They have a competiton on Friday, and if they get top 3, they get to move on to nationals. They've been working extra hard, getting ready and trying to perfect all of their moves. Anyways, they're practicing outside today, because the weather is fine. It's actually pretty hot out today.
The water bottles were already filled up, and outside, so I get to just watch today. I take a seat at the top of the bleachers, and take my bag off my back. Like I said, it's hot outside, so I take a few gulps of water. I have on a light blue t shirt, and some ripped blue jeans. I took my hoodie off, and tied it around my waist.
I sat there throuout the whole practice. I looked over at the other side of the football field, and the football players, were just finishing up. Usually their practice ends before the cheerleaders, but both practices ended at the same time today.
I grabbed my things, and walked down the bleachers. Lizzie said she had to talk to her coach about something, and that I could wait at the car if I wanted. I was walking through the parking lot, towards our car when Hope walks up to me. "Hi" she says. "Hi" I respond. It was kind of an awkward silence, and it was really nerve wrecking. "Um, I was wondering if I could talk to you?" she says, breaking the silence.
"Right now?" I ask. "No. Meet me at the cliff in 20 minutes" she tells me. I nod, and she walks away. I sit in the car, and wait for Lizzie. I drive her home, and she gets out. Once she notices I'm not behind her, she asks "Are you coming?". "I, uh, have something to take care of, but I'll be back in a little bit" I tell her. She nods, going inside of the house.
Hope said 20 minutes, and it's only been 10, so I have time. I stop by *random resturaunt*, and get some food. I eat it while I'm in the car. It doesn't take long to arrive at the cliff. I see Hope's car parked near mine. I finish my food, then get out, and start walking over to the tree. I see Hope under it, playing with a loose string on her shirt. She hasn't noticed me yet, so I take the time to admire how beautiful she is.
Eventually, she hears a stick break under my foot, and she looks up. She smiles at me, in which I return it. I sit in front of her, and wait for her to speak. "How was your day?" she asks, engaging in small talk. "It was pretty good. How was yours?" I reply. "Better now" she tells me, small smile on her face. "You look really pretty today...not that you don't any other day. You look pretty everyday" she tells me. "I know what you mean, thank you. That's really sweet" I reply. "So, what'd you wanna talk about?" I ask.
"Um, the other day...when we kissed" she tells me. I slowly nod, getting a bit nervous. "I was kinda avoiding you, but not for the reason you think" she continues. "I was avoiding you because I was scared" she tells me. "Of what?" I ask. "Of everything. I don't do relationships, hence why I've never been in one. I don't like having feelings for people. Romantically, I mean" she answers. "Oh...but you do like me?" I ask. "Yes. And I'd be willing to try the whole relationship thing. If you want, that is" she says.
"I'm sorry, are you asking me to be your girlfriend?" I ask. "Yes ?" she replies. "You sound...unsure" I point out. "Oh, no. I'm not unsure, I'm just nervous. Um, will you be my girlfriend?" she asks. "I'd like that" I answer, smiling at her. A smile grows on her face. "Oh, I, um, I wrote you a song" she tells me, grabbing her guitar.
"It's called 'Little star'. I wrote it yesturday, so it might need a little bit of work" she says, before she starts playing and singing the song.
Song: Little Star
[Verse 1]
I've got no place
Building you a rocket up to outer space
I watched you fade
Keeping the lights on in this forsaken place
[Chorus]
Little star
Feels like you fell right on my head
Gave you away to the wind
I hope it was worth it in the end
You and my guitar
I think you may be my only friend
I gave it all to se you shine again
I hope it was worth it in the end
[Verse 2]
Us against the world
Just a couple sinner's making fun of hell
If I keep you here
I'll only be doing this for myself
[Chorus]
Little star
Feels like you fell right on my head
Gave you away to the wind
I hope it was worth it in the end
Yeah, I hope so
Think you may be my only friend
I gave it all to see you shine again
I hope it was worth it in the end
[Bridge]
I know this thing is broken
So I leave my door wide open
Been some time since we've spoken
One day we'll meet again
Some distance when you're older
You'll come lean on my shoulder
Tell me that storm is over
That day we meet again
[Chorus]
Feels like you fell right on my head
Gave you away to the wind
I hope it was worth it in the end
You and my guitar
I think you may be my only friend
I gave you away (Mh-mhhm-hmm)
I hope it was worth it in the end
She stops singing and playing. "I'm still working on it, but-" she starts, but I cut her off by kissing her. She kisses back, and sets her guitar down. She pulls me closer, and rests her hands on my waist. I move my hands up to her face, and kiss her harder. When the need to breath becomes too much, she pulls away.
I could feel the tears welling up in my eyes. "Did you like it?" she asks. "Liked it? I loved it, Hope" I respond. She brings her hands up, and wipes the tears off my face. "These are happy tears, right?" she asks. I nod, with a teary laugh. She moves over to the flower part of the field, and opened her arms for me to join.
I make my way over to her, and she pulls me into her arms. She plants a lingering kiss on my forehead. We lay there for what feels like ever, just enjoying each other's company. There's nothing in the world I want more than this moment.
