"It's lovely," I whispered under my breath. The decor was that of a small Italian cottage, a place I never could imagine Vito frequenting.

"Ah, I knew it'd suit your fancy. That is to say... you like it?" He held my hand as he spoke, playing with the rings on my fingers.

"Of course! I just said it was lovely!"

"Ah I was paying attention, I just didn't know if you were saying it for my sake."

"I will always be honest with you. I would never say anything to spare your feelings... that is if you have them." I stood on my tippy toes and stuck my tongue out at him. I trotted to the table confidently and places myself on the nice brown leather padding.

Vittorio paused before sitting. Analyzing the seat across from me and the seat next to me. He tried to hide a puzzled look on his face. I could tell he was deciding whether he wanted to sit next to me or across from me. He finally let out a sigh and pushed his hair back.

"So you decided to sit across from me," I said placing my purse neatly at the end of the table.

"Is that... wrong?" A hint of surprise washed across his eyes, though you would only notice if you knew his typical facial expressions.

"Oh Vittorio, we're on a date! Relax a little bit. It's a date. This should be fun not stressful."

He unraveled the silverware filled napkins and put the cloth on his lap, trying to act relaxed.
"Hmm. It is a date. May I be honest?"

I felt my face softening as he spoke those words. My heart felt warm knowing that he was going to confide in me.

"I haven't been on a date in a long time."
Vittorio looked at his lap rather ashamed. "I'm sure you've been on quite a few. How could you not? You're very beautiful."

I could feel my face heating up and my eyes widen. I didnt expect such a forward statement from him.

Noticing my embarrassment, Vitto quickly snapped his fingers and called "waiter!"

A very nice clean cut man dressed in a burgundy suit presented himself to us. He seemed flawless. Not a hair out of place or a piece of lint on his clothes. His posture was also immaculate.

"Vittorio! A pleasure! Might I interest you in a morning mimosa or perhaps a spiked peach tea?"

His voice was a little bit high, I wasn't expecting that. His tone, however, was very jolly.

"A mimosa sounds wonderful," I replied.

The waiter nodded his head and briskly turned to Vittorio. "The usual?" He asked

Vittorio nodded and only spoke the words, "two please".

The waiter nodded again, this time walking away.

"The usual? You come here a lot?" I brushed my hair behind my ear.

"Ah, well not particularly. I go here with Alicia every now and then."

I must've scowled a little bit because he spat out a quick "not like that..."

I sighed a breath of relief when he looked at his lap again. I was thinking about asking what the usual was but I wanted to be surprised by Vitto's taste.

We moderately chit chatted for a little, our waiter coming to refill my drink every now and then. My head began to buzz just a tad, I began to feel tipsy. That's when Vittorio told the waiter to just bring waters.

Everytime the welcome bell rang on the cafe's door I would look to see at the patrons, wondering if this was a place they frequented as well. The morning was rather normal until I looked back again at the door, my heart sank.

At the cabaret there was people who would court the women, trying to take them home for the evening. The man who walked in came to my place of work every now and then, he was kind and respectful. The only dancer he spoke to was me. I had worked at that shabby place for months on end so being treated with a little bit of kindness was nice... however, I craved for someone to touch my body. So when he offered to take me home with him, I said yes. The worst part was that when we were sleeping together I called Vittorio's name. I left in a hurry from embarrassment. I never saw him again.

We met quick eye contact and then looked away uncomfortably. Vitto must have noticed, he became curious. I turned back trying to think of something to say to him but my head was empty. I wasn't thinking straight, which is why when Vitto asked who he was I replied "Someone I slept with."
