I Thought I Lost You!

First au in this book!

I'm only on the first season of Ninjago so far so no spoilers please :D

There is gonna be spoilers here tho for the first season!

This is gonna be off of when they were in the volcano and Kai saved Little Lloyd

"KAI! YOU DON'T HAVE ENOUGH TIME! WE NEED TO LEAVE!" Jay yells from across the volcano, watching as his friend runs up the steps.

"Then I guess I need to hurry!" Kai yelled back, running as fast as he could after the serpentine. The blue ninja was about to run after him until Cole grabbed his arm.

"He'll meet us back there, we need to get out of here now, Jay!" There was a quick moment of silence, as if the world had froze around them. "We need to leave or we're all going to die."

"You're right.. Let's get out of here.." Jay and Cole began to quickly scale the walls, Zane, Master Wu, and Nya following behind them. The light brunette couldn't help but keep looking back at the stairs, watching his friend run up them. He shook his head, looking back towards the wall as he tried to focus on climbing.

The group was able to make it up to the entrance they came in, worry filling Jay as he watched his friend fight for the fangblade.

"You guys go ahead! I'm waiting for Kai!" Jay announced as he waved the group back.

"I'm staying too!" Lloyd took a step forward, being closer to the edge. "We can't leave Kai behind!" The blonde stomped his feet as the platform under him began to crack.

"Lloyd!" Garmadon quickly reached forward for his son as the floor beneath him fell. Rocks quickly began to fall in front of the group as the young boy fell onto a large rock that was slowly being submerged under the lava. "We have to save them!" The group began to back up, rocks continuing to fall around them before they went into the doorway. Suddenly a large rock fell in front of the entrance, sealing them into the tunnel.

"NO!" Jay yelled, quickly running towards the large rock. "KAI! LLOYD!" He banged his fist off of the rock. "Kai....Kai no.." He felt a sudden hand rest on his shoulder, looking back to see it was Nya.

"They'll make it out of there somehow.. If I know my brother he'll find a way. We need to go Jay." The blue ninja looked between the rock and his friends. Tears began to appear in his as he laid his head against the rock.

"You're right... I just.. I don't want to lose him..." He quickly wiped his tears, moving away from the large rock and turning around. "Let's get out of here."

Quickly the group ran out of the tunnel, back towards their ship. The group climbed the anchor, having the ship begin to rise into the sky. Jay ran to the railing of the ship immediately, looking for any signs of his friends.

"Come on Kai..Come on..." The brunette stared at the volcano, watching it suddenly begin to erupt. "NO!" He yelled out, reaching an arm out over the railing. "No... no no no..."

Jay fell to his knees, tears beginning to fall down his cheeks. "Why... Why Kai why..?" Zane set a hand on his shoulder, trying to give him some form of comfort.

"Wait, look!" Cole said aloud, pointing towards the sky. A large ball of fire came towards the ship, two figures seemed to be inside of it. "I think it's them!" The blue ninja quickly stood up staring in awe at the two. As soon as the ball hit the ship, it disappeared, revealing Kai holding Lloyd in his arms. He set the boy down before beginning to fall back.

"Kai!" Jay quickly stood up, catching his friend in his arms. "I've got you..I've got you.." he mumbled mainly to himself.

"Is Kai going to be okay, Sensei?" Nya asked as Jay picked Kai up bridal style.

"With Jay taking care of him, he will be fine." Sensei Wu chucked, causing the brunette to blush.

"I'm gonna..I'm gonna go lay Kai down" The embarrassed boy said as he made his way to their bunks. He set Kai on the bed, bringing a chair over so he could sit next to him. "You're such an idiot Kai.. but that's why I love you.." Jay ran a hand through the unconscious boy's hair, keeping it out of his face, setting his other hand in Kai's. He could've sworn he saw him smile in his sleep.

Jay stayed like that for awhile, just combing his fingers through Kai's hair and holding his hand. Though he was worried sick that the boy he loved wasn't going to wake up, he was glad he was there in his arms. The brunette laid his head on Kai's chest and closed his eyes for a minute. He kept their hands locked, not wanting to let go.

"J-Jay?" Quickly the blue ninja sat up, blush dusted across his cheeks.

"Sorry..I-I just wanted to make sure you were okay-"

"It's uh..it's okay.. What even happened? I remember grabbing Lloyd and that's it" Kai said as he rubbed the back of his neck.

"You unlocked your true potential I guess, by saving Lloyd and forgetting about the blade." Jay looked away, sighing before quickly punching his friend in the arm. "That's what you get for scaring the crap out of me."

"I wasn't trying to scare you, I just knew we needed to get that blade and maybe it would unlock my true potential.. I'm safe though, aren't I? And so is Lloyd, so everything ended well, didn't it?"

"I thought you died, Kai!" The red ninja quickly sat up, pulling Jay into a tight hug.

"But I'm okay now. That's what matters." The two pulled apart from their hug slowly, staring each other in the eyes.

"You're an idiot" Jay said as he pulled Kai into a kiss. A kiss they were both waiting for way too long..
