A loser.
That's what she said she felt like when she got the news.
She said she felt betrayed, violated, the biggest loser to lose.
What did she lose? You may ask.
She lost her safety. Her granted. She lost her happiness. She lost her gladness.
But this, you may reply, doesn't answer my question.
To which I'll supply; Do answers ever answer questions?
We may know that many starve faithfully, but we may not know why.
We may know the death count daily, but we may not know who.
We may know that blankets keep us warm, but we may not know that heaters do to.
Let's go back to the loser.
The friend indeed. Everyone was rooting for her. Everyone indeed.
But as luck would have it, or lack there of, she lost what she kept, and kept what she lost.
Green. The color of her ribbon. She saw it as a thing of the past, but now it came back for its redemption.
A lime green ribbon that signifies the word go, but all she loves is the color red. The color that means stop.
A loser. That's what she told me she was. I never replied to her, for fear I'd choke up.
I wish I could tell her what I see. Behind that stupid green ribbon, I see my hero.
Yes, my hero. My strong mentor who says she isn't afraid anymore. The one that taught me how to fight without fighting. How to love without the reciprocation. How to accept the life of a loser, even when you aren't one.
But where did she go? I see her still, but
she doesn't follow these decrees anymore. She says she's holding up, but all I see are flimsy springs.
Springs that bounce, like moods on a swing. Springs that rust, like a Tigger that's weak kneed.
A loser. That's what you say you are.
Well guess what, I don't believe you. You aren't the loser that loses like you say you do.
Because I see someone that won round one, and I see someone that will win round two.
So you aren't a loser, but actually a winner.
A winner, that's what I say you'll be.
So why don't you say that too?
