Journal Entry: Hunter Rollins

For generations and generations my family has journaled. In my fathers library I have seen centuries of journals, old ones, the kind that have worn pages and ink smudges. The kind of old books that fill the room with the heavenly smell that leaks from the pages. Old books that creak when you open them. These are the types of books that do not look right sitting on newer shelves in a room decorated with new furniture. Not to mention the room has a certain smell to it too, this library has been passed down as well. Our house is medium size, but walking into this library you would think that our house was huge.

The library opens up with French doors, and goes into a huge circle room with three small glass enclosures in the middle of the room. These contain three of the oldest heirlooms of our family. James D Rollins opened the first Rollins library in the 1400s. Over the years it stood tall, but a fire happened and burnt it too the ground, one of the enclosures hold the original Rollins library blueprint. The one in the middle holds his original journal, it is the only one that no one has read. It was one of the only other heirlooms that were found perfectly kept together and not in ashes. The last enclosure holds Delani James' journal, sword, and feather pen.

Delani was the first woman witch hunter of my clan. All around the walls you see tons of journals covering all of the walls except one. The last part of the wall is filled with actual books, books that hold instructions, languages used in the witch clans, certain spells and how to reverse them, etc. In front of this section is a desk with a computer stocked with all the office supplies anyone would need, plus a typewriter, and a printer off to the side on a small desk of its own. There are chairs and a coffee table surrounding the three enclosures. They are comfortable old leather. This adds the perfect mix of old books and leather to the room.

The journals are not typical journals, they are made of old book backs, and smell of centuries of history. Most of them are not personal entries either, they are filled with foreign languages, Wicca symbbols, and how to hunt them. My family comes from a long line of with hunters. I know what some people would think if I said I was a witch hunter, "So your family killed those innocent girls in the Salem Trials?" No, we did not. That was another clan in the Northern Region. My family was there watching and can testify that those were innocent girls. Now with that being said, I was handed this journal today and decided to do differently by the family journals. Knowing that my journal will be one of the many that my future kids will read, I decided to fill mine with everything. Personal entries, history, different languages as I learn them, and what not. My job is to be a witch hunter like my father and his father, etc. The goal would be to marry inside my clan, but I do not see that happening any time soon.

Each clan has three to four packs, each pack is a family. Technically making four to five families total due to the clan lead family. My family is a clan lead family. My family does not approve of the girlfriend I have now. Lily is great, but she is not a witch hunter. Not that it matters, but I would like to marry a witch hunter, you can tell Lily is not interested in my ranting about the news of this life. It would be nice to talk to someone who is a hunter. Her family is in my clan, but she decided to go outside of what her father wanted and be a writer instead of a witch hunter. Everyone tells me to let it go, and settle, but I can not help feeling like there is something my parents are not telling me.
