I stretched and ran my hand through my hair untangling the knots that had formed. My hand fell to my side and the cold surface took me by surprise. I sat up taking a second to recollect where I was. The front door was now closed and the small window revealed a dark sky. My hand automatically went to my phone which was dead. I heard a noise come from upstairs and froze. Dad worked on Saturdays, so who was that? I used the wall to help me up and took a long breath that sent a pain through the new bruise lying on my abdomen. I grabbed the railing and slowly took a step, being sure not to make a sound. That's when the phone rang.

I turned around and jogged to the kitchen answering the phone. "Hel-" I was interrupted by another voice on the line.

"Hello." a rugged man said and I shuddered knowing exactly who it belonged to.

"Um, hello Mr. Styles...this is Mrs. Detter, Harry's principal..." I held the phone tighter to my ear  wondering what was going on. "I just wanted to inform you that Harry didn't show up to school this morning."

My heart jumped into my throat and I felt my face go white. The phone hit the floor as I heard footsteps moving from above me and I ran for the door. "HARRY! DON'T YOU DARE LEAVE NOW!" I ignored his threats as I took my bag from the couch and threw open the door.

"YOU THINK I'M PLAYING YOU LITTLE B-" the loud clap of thunder broke through his words. I turned my head when I got to the sidewalk to see my dad chasing me down the street.

The adrenaline kicked in making my legs move faster than ever before. I sprinted as the rain hit my hair and slid down my face. The pelts of water hit my skin leaving stinging sensations across my body. Finally, the school was in my sights and it approached me quickly. I kept running past the school. I ran past the playground. Passed the elementary and the preschool and everything that reminded me of my childhood.

My eyes were burning but because of the rain I wasn't sure if I was crying. I stopped and turned to face the direction of the school. "I HATE YOU!" Now I knew I was crying. "YOU MADE MY LIFE HELL!" I didn't know if I was still referring to the school now. "YOU ARE GARBAGE. I NEVER NEEDED YOU, YOU NEEDED ME!"

I heard a cough from behind me and I quickly turned pulling up my hood to hide the bruises. A gorgeous boy was standing in front of me with a frown planted on his face. "Hi, I'm Louis. Are you okay?"
