"What?!" I half sobbed, half yelled.

I sank into a nearby chair and looked up at my mother. I had been trying to convince myself that this wouldn't be about North Hollywood High, and it turned out that this was about the high school. But definitely not in the way I had expected.

"Why are you so excited about this?" I said to my mom, almost choking up.

Why do I even care? I thought. it's not like I excepted to get in.

"Oh, I should probably explain!" My mother said, excitement lacing her voice.

"So I got a call from North Hollywood high a few minutes ago."

I nodded and motioned for my mom to go on.

"And they told me that they wouldn't be accepting you."

My stomach felt like someone was tying it in a knot.

"When they saw your audition tape, they decided to send it to a nearby high school, also specializing in the arts." My mom roared happily.

"And this school, Hollywood Arts-"

"Wait." I interuppted. "Hollywood Arts? That was the high school from Victorious."

"Yes, yes." My mother muttered quickly. "That high school was based of this one."

"Woah." I said with disbelief.

"Well anyways, they sent the audition tape to this high school, and Hollywood Arts accepted you! It's even better than North Hollywood High School for the Performing arts!"

I felt as if a balloon was inflating inside my stomach, making me feel almost as if I was floating on air. I got into an even better high school? This was crazy.

"Are you pranking me?" I yelped, standing up.

An even bigger grin bloomed on my mom's face. "Nope!" She cried engulfing me in another bear hug.

This can't be true. I thought. Am I really that good?

When my mother finally let go of me, I suddenly thought of something.

"Kylie!" I exclaimed. "Do you think she got in too?"

My mom gave me a sad smile. "I don't know, Amber." She said. "You are honestly better than Kylie is."

"I have to call her." I mumbled with a giant grin on my face.

"What am I supposed to do without you?" I asked miserably.

"Are you kidding?" Kylie asked, so loudly that I'm pretty sure the phone vibrated. "Amber, you're so talented it's not even funny. And you'll make plenty of friends."

I smiled. Kylie was the best at cheering people up.

"Thanks, Kylie." I said. "I gotta go, but I'll call you later."

Hanging up the phone quickly, I rested my head on the cool car door and groaned. what was I thinking? My entire family was uprooting their lives for me, and I won't even have my best friend there to help me through it.

But maybe it was worth it to be able to follow my dreams.
