I sit in my flat in London, the comforting fabric of the couch soothing my skin. This was all so spontaneous, moving to London, and all.
"Hey, Claire?" My best friend, Ellie is yelling from her bedroom as she makes her bed. "Want to go get coffee? Or is it tea that these people drink?" She walked into the living room, looking fabulous (as always). Ellie has always been way more stylish then me, wearing blazers and colourful skinny jeans. I preferred to blend in, not looking any better than those around me.
"Yeah," I said, laughing, "Just let me put some makeup on." I make my way to the bathroom, and put on some eyeliner and mascara. Ellie come up from behind and smiles.
"Your hair is so pretty, Claire. You really should wear it down more often. Anyways, I just got a text from Phil Lester. He says that he and Dan have been watching our videos and they want to do some work together." I can tell by the excitement on her face that she cannot wait to meet them. She smiles from ear to ear and tucks her shiny blond hair behind her ear. Ellie and I practically scream and do a happy dance. Dan and Phil are our idols, and they are the ones who inspired us to become YouTubers. "They say that they will meet us at the coffee shop tomorrow sometime and to text them when we wake up.
I let out a joyous yelp and head into the living room, thankful that the Wi-Fi is set up. I grab my laptop and check YouTube and see Dan and Phil’s new videos. This is a dream. It has to be.
"Medium pumpkin spice latte and a medium peppermint mocha, please." I smiled to the worker, who hurriedly made what I ordered for Ellie and me.
"I'm so excited! We've only been in London in a week and we already have YouTube friends!" She grabs our coffee and sets it down at a seating area. She sighs in relief.
"Right?" I take a sip of my coffee, and relaxed my body in the nice leather chair. "What a great cup of coffee for such a great day?"
"Hey, guys!" A soft, familiar voice came from behind me, and Ellie's eyes widened as a smile spread across her face. It was Dan and Phil.
A tan hand fell on the back of my chair, and I suddenly felt like dying. I turned my head, to the massively hot Dan Howell behind me. He was wearing a black, fitted tee and his skinny jeans, and he was looking amazing. "H-hi! I'm Claire and this," I gestured to Ellie, "is Ellie." I gave him my best smile, hoping that I don’t look like a fool.
"Hi Claire,” He said, politely, “Hi Ellie. Phil is getting our banana nut loaf and will be here soon.” He took a seat next to mine. “So, what do you guys want to do today?”
“I think that we should just go to one of our flats and chat for a bit.” Phil, who just arrived with the banana nut loaf, suggested.
“I’m up for anything,” Ellie stated after a sip, “as long as it is within reason.” She giggled, and took another sip.
Dan turned to me, with an eyebrow raised. “And you, Claire?” He took a bite of his loaf and swallowed it while tearing off small bits of the napkin and twirled it between his fingers.
“Phil’s idea was fine. Let me finish this up real quick.”
“Who’s flat?” Ellie’s eyes peered over the top of her mug as she spoke. “We just finished furnishing it and everything, but we don’t have food.”
“We can stop by the store on the way there.” Phil was wiping his mouth off with the napkin.
“Oh my God, Dan and Phil, are you okay?”
They were not. They were hit by a car and died.
THE END.
