[Chapter 1]
The Newborn
Rayna and Drew Harum occupied a small hospital room, located in California. The hospital room wasn't at all welcoming. In fact, it was almost frightening. The room was fairly small. The walls were painted a dull grey, and the floor was patterned with an ugly tile. Surrounding them, disturbing pictures of the hospital’s doctors were draped along the already unattractive walls. There was a hospital bed in the middle of the birthing room. The bed was like that of a brick. The mattress, the pillow, and even the blankets appeared rough, seeming to serve their opposing purposes. Rayna Harum, laying on the solid bed, was rocking the infant in her arms caressing it's cheeks.
"Drew, he's beautiful!” Rayna exclaimed bearing a smile on her face.
Drew nodded his head in agreement. He walked over to Rayna and gently picked up the newborn baby boy.
“Yes. Oh yes, he is beautiful honey." He answered, as he gazed down at his son.
Dr. Byron walked from the corner he was standing in.
"What a beautiful baby you have there Mrs. Harum.”, Dr.Byron stated.
Rayna smiled at the doctor. Drew politely motioned for the doctor to allow them more time alone, and Dr. Byron silently slipped out of the room.
"I believe he's the one." Drew said, examining the small being in his arms.
"The special Draemon." Rayna whispered.
"The mark won't show up for a long time. Rayna, I feel it. He must be the special arrival that was talked aforementioned in the ancient prophecy." Drew said with a glimmer in his eyes.
Rayna held fear on her tongue, as she questioned, “But, what if he declines the final transformation?"
"Oh, honey he won’t. You can see it in his eyes.”
Drew held the child closer to his heart, stared into his son’s eyes, and with faith whispered, “You are going to be a fine half man. You are the special Draemon, I can see it. You will be the one to kill off the Shadow Draemons. Just as the prophecy has foretold. I just know it."
Rayna stared at the baby with a twinkle in her eye. She then asked, "What should we name our little one.”
Drew stared at the baby with even more intensity.
"Well, a special baby needs a special name. How about Drake? No no.” Drew argued with himself.
More confident in his decision, he proposed, “How about Drae?"
Rayna brushed back her hair, " I love it Drew."
Rayna reached her arms out, signaling that her husband bring her son closer. After retrieving him safely in her arms again, Rayna kissed the baby on the forehead and whispered in his ear "Drae. It fits you perfectly".
