It had only been a few hours after the scene with Asa in the control room had been shot, but already a train of cars was making their way down the highway, with Caroline Maddox driving close to the back. She took a glance at the time displayed on the corner of her radio screen, pursing her lips slightly. Five-thirty might be a bit too late to begin the long drive to Marty's, the local grill that everyone had agreed on going to. But then again, maybe it wouldn't be as busy today. Why worry about what might not work when one could hope for what could work?
Caroline directed her gaze back to the road, noticing a few cars already turning their headlights on as the sun began sinking towards the horizon. Sometimes the world just seemed like a picture in a storybook. That's how she saw it, anyways. Being an optimist definitely allowed her to see normal things from a unique perspective.
Caroline reached for the radio again, turning the volume back up, and was greeted by an enthusiastic voice saying, "Aaaand welcome back to the Endowed podcast, ladies and gentlemen!" She'd set up the Bluetooth system to play whatever was on her podcast app, and currently the show that speculated about their show was on.
It was always fun to listen to what people thought was going to happen, or their opinions on these characters. Caroline, of course, knew exactly what was going on, which made their whiffs on theories even more hilarious.
"How about that last episode? The season four premiere caught everyone off-guard. No one, and I mean NO ONE was expecting that death." Mentioning the latest departure of a cast member made Caroline frown slightly. Of course, Hannah still lived nearby, but it still made Caroline sad to know that she wasn't going to be able to physically work with her best friend anymore.
But that was just how it went when playing characters on the Endowed. A futuristic show about humans with genetic abilities to manipulate nature didn't sound like one where everyone got to have a happily ever after.
"So, on this episode, we're going to be talking about how Hayla Porter's death affects the show- how the major players are going to be changed... and how some are already changing." Good, they were going to be focusing on characters. The Endowed Podcast was normally at its best when they focused on character development.
Caroline turned the volume up just a tad as they launched into conversation. "So, obviously, this is going to affect Anna Porter more than any other character. From the way the show has gone thus far, you can tell that the Porter sisters were extremely close- ""Yes, best friends, family, super close.""-And Anna Porter has already displayed a propensity for vengeance. So we're going to assume that this is going to drive that character to go a little more down this dark path we've seen her wandering."
It was true, Caroline's character had been through rough times. Deadbeat father, lost her mother, and now lost her sister. Sometimes it was pretty tough getting into the downtrodden, robotic mindset that Anna Porter had when she was alone, as Caroline was a naturally sunny person. But it was a welcome challenge for her.
"Last season, we saw Anna take her first life. Now granted, this was a kill-or-be-killed situation, but that was the first instance in which any of the Endowed decided to kill. A very striking turn, not just for this character, but for what she's willing to do to achieve what she's fighting for."
They weren't wrong about that. That was one of the great aspects of Dave's storytelling- this wasn't just about a select group of individuals trying to survive an attempt to wipe them out, it was a story of a society trying to unite despite their differences.
"Now Anna got away with that kill. No one knows, since she was able to execute that guy very cleanly- ""That scene was great, wasn't it? Hats off to Caroline Maddox for playing that part, all the emotions she displayed, the timing of them, how they changed, there's some phenomenal actors and actresses in this show, but she's got a main role for a reason, people." Even though these people were probably miles away, she couldn't help but blush a little, rolling her eyes and trying not to grin too much.
