I finished smoking and went back in. I heard Pob pottering in the kitchen. I went to brush my teeth quickly, getting rid of any unnecessary scent and went out into the hall.
Pob came out and saw me. I switched on the television and beckoned him to join me. He hesitated but eventually did.

We quietly watched the show until I gathered the courage to ask.
" Why did you stop emailing me Pob? Were you that keen to cut off contact with me? Or was I being too needy? I thought we made a promise to meet some day?". I uttered softly.

Pob looked at me for the longest time, cleared his throat and finally replied hesitantly, "I didn't email back for 2 reasons. One I wasn't sure when I would come back and it wasn't fair to keep leading you on. Secondly, I got into a major car accident there and was out for about 2 months. I nearly died and the place had a severe lack of technology so I couldn't inform anyone either. I bounced back eventually but with a fear for cars. It takes me alot to get into one. I am sorry I stayed away Leon. I didn't mean to hurt you. Or push you away...its just.."

"It's ok. What has happened has happened. And whatever was to happen also did. And whatever is to happen will happen. All I know is, we have both lost each other, haven't we?" I said sadly.

"What exactly happened Leon?" Pob ventured but I stopped him. There was no point in visiting that chapter of my life. The only way I could deal with it was by shutting it out.
It has helped for the last year, it will continue to do so. I muttered being tired and went off to sleep, leaving a very confused Pob in the hall.

"Sorry Pob , the lesser you know the better. That way Leena will have a lesser hold on you plus it will make sure I can protect you longer too. I can bear anything but seeing you get hurt. I love you too much to let that happen to you.".

I slid down the door, sobbing softly letting my thoughts and feelings consume me.
