Hello, I'm Layla Thomas and this is my story.
Ive always wanted to be a lawyer, well since I found out what a lawyer was anyway. I found it so cool that people could work court cases and help people win them. I know it isn't a normal childhood dream to become a lawyer, but it was mine. I took every class I could to prepare me to become a lawyer in middle and high school. Speech, IT, Social Studies, advanced English, you name it. When it was finally time to pick a collage I settled on I chose FSU or Florida State University.

When I first got there it was like a dream. Perfect classes, perfect teachers, perfect dorms and perfect people. It was great! I got my degree after years of hard work. I was so happy, I thought I was going to become a hotshot lawyer, but that never happened. I worked really hard to get clients but I hardly got any. I was trying so hard but it just wasn't working. I didn't know what to do. I decided I wasn't going to give up. I got a few more clients but not enough to pay rent consistently. Being a lawyer isn't great when you have to pay rent each month since your clients don't always have court cases each month.

Just like that, it had been a year and nothing had improved. I decided to get a part time job but still follow my dream. Another year went by and it only got worse from there. I had to give up on my dream. I never got my happy ending. Now I'm working 6 different jobs just to pay rent and get basic necessities. Hard work doesn't always pay off.
