She chose the wrong alleyway. It was a dead end.

Anya doubled back as quickly as she could. But before she could rush back into the street, rough hands forced her up against a brick wall, her head smacking on the wall.

"Nekuda bezhat'," Nowhere to run

The blonde woman's eyes were terrifying, but seemed lightly dulled, like she was in a dream state. Her gold piercings shone in street lighting.

Anya found herself frozen, She didn't know the woman personally, but she knew the General sent her. And knew where she would take her.

"Ya nikogda ne vernus'!" I'll never go back!

The woman titled her head, but before she could act, Anya scrunched up her eyes, and a blast of blue pushed the blonde from her, right back into the street, and in front of oncoming traffic. Cabs blared their horns as the woman struggled to her feet. Anya stepped out of the alleyway, her hands glowing lightly. The woman tilted her head back and narrowed her eyes. She knew there would be a fight, and she was prepared. She dropped the long green coat she had been wearing, reaving the black tactical suit beneath. On her utility belt, Anya's eyes found something. Her blood froze as she saw the shock collar, ready and waiting for her.

The woman took the girl's fear as her advantage, and pounced. She could take the girl in hand to hand combat, but with her powers, she knew she was at a disadvantage. She would not fail her mission.

Yelena never failed.

She grabbed the girl and threw her to the floor, passers-by shocked and backing away. Anya stuck her hand out and blasted towards the blonde, who ducked the burst of energy. She sent blast after blast, but she managed to duck. One hit her square in the chest, but she quickly regained her footing.

Anya was starting to feel exhaustion creep up on her – the powers draining everything out of her. She stuck her hand out again, blue light charging up as she aimed, not for the woman, but the shop sign above her. The sign came down heavy and knocked the blonde through the glass of the shop window. SHoiuts and screams were heard, but the girl paid no attention to them.

Anya turned and sprinted through the traffic as fast as she could.

"Watch it kid!"

Running as fast as she could, Anya crossed the street and fled the scene as fast as her legs could catch her. She silently thanked Steve for taking her on all those runs.

Anya glanced back behind her and saw the woman making quick progress to catch up with her. The woman threw something, and Anya felt something thin wrap around her ankles, and she fell onto the sidewalk in a heap. The woman pounced, and quickly sat on the young girls stomach, pinning her in place. Anya heard the beep as the collar was switched on, and she screamed. The woman's eye darted up at a loud noise, and almost looked fearful as a parked up car began hurling towards them. The car smashed into the building above their heads, glass pouring down.

Anya felt glass scratch her body, but all she cared about was getting the woman off her. She raised her hand, ready to charge, but she heard the sound.

The click and beep.

Then came the familiar sharpness of small needles in the skin of her neck

Then came the pain.
