Chapter Two

I yawned and rubbed my eyes, groggily, as I woke up. I sat up and stretched, then looked over at F/N, who was still asleep. I decided to let them sleep for a bit longer, and got ready for the day. After I ate a quick snack, changed, and brushed my teeth, I woke F/n.

“F/N, it’s time to get up,” I whispered, so I didn’t wake any other kids.

“Ok, Y/N.” They whisper-replied as they got up.

I walked out of the room and out to the play area, where we were supposed to meet the worker who would assign us our jobs. I walked into the room and greeted her.

“Hello, Ms,” I said as I made direct eye contact with her, knowing it would make her uncomfortable.

“Oh- Uh, yes, yes hello. But where is Mx. F/N?” She asked, looking to her side.

“F/N should be here soon,” I told her.

She nodded and a couple of minutes later, F/N walked in, and stood next to me. The lady looked at both of us and sighed.

“You two will be cleaning the dishes after every meal, you’re doing today’s laundry, you’ll sweep and mop the floors, and vacuum the carpet in here. If you get all that finished, come see me.” She ordered in a stern, and serious tone.

We nodded and went to get the broom and mop. I would sweep the floors, and F/N would mop them after. We decided to start with the kitchen. I began sweeping, and F/N helped me by holding the dustpan. After they mopped the floor, we went on to the laundry room and repeated the process. We did that for the bathrooms too. By the time we were done, most of the other kids were waking up. And so we went and got the laundry basket, then told them to put their dirty laundry in it. After we started the laundry, it was time for breakfast. So we headed to the kitchen where we each got our breakfast. It was the usual scrambled eggs and hash browns. I sighed as I ate. At least it was Saturday so we didn't have

"This sucks.." F/N whispered to me.

"Mhm.." I agreed

After about half an hour everyone had finished with breakfast, so F/N and I washed the dishes. We walked down one of the halls to the utility closet and got the vacuum out. We then headed to the playroom and vacuumed it. We even put the toys away and organized. Then we met back up with the lady, who gave us some more chores. Now, we had to clean the windows, scrub the toilets, and bathtubs, fold the clothes, and put the previous dishes away. So, F/N and I put the dishes away first. Then we folded the now clean clothes and set them on the owner's bed. Now it was lunch. So we went and ate our sandwiches. We again cleaned the dishes and put them in the dishwasher. Then proceeded to get window cleaner, some paper towels, and cleaned the windows. After that, we scrubbed the toilets, and bathtubs clean. The dishes were done so we put them away and went back to the lady.

"All I need now is for you to dust the shelves, then clean and put the dishes away." She told.

We went ahead and split up the dusting between the both of us, F/N doing half the rooms, me doing the other half. Now it was dinner. We had mashed potatoes with gravy, veggies, and some chicken. The dinner was decent, and we cleaned the dishes after. We went to our room, and put our clothes away when we were waiting for the dishes. After that, we talked for a bit and then went to put the dishes away.

"Today was exhausting-" I sighed, and I laid down in my bed.

"I know right-" F/N added, yawning.

We changed into our pajamas, brushed our teeth, and laid back down, saying Good-night to each other before falling asleep.
