Ain had no passion for bartending, just what some might call 'a gift for it'.
He was part of a generation of humans who weren't normal and considered by some as the next evolution of humanity, also known as Evos.
The only reason he worked at the Cinnobar nightclub was because of his fathers gift to him. The same gift many of his co-worker Evos had at the club. Not much was known about Evos except that they had started to appear around eighteen or twenty years ago and that the power an Evo held was correlated to one or both of their parents aberrant behaviour.
Ain's gift was the ability to create and telekinetically manipulate alcohol.
Although with every gift an Evo had came a curse right along with it, for him it was the fact that he could not get drunk. This wasn't the worst downside Ain had heard about but it unwillingly made him, and many others, perfect for bartending.
The Cinnobar nightclub was located in the one of the back alleys of what was known as the Trinity Intersection, an area made up of nine blocks of commercial buildings packed tightly together in a tangled mess of rats nest architecture.
The Trinity Intersection's name was due to it being somewhat of a neutral zone between the three factions that became largely segregated after Evos began to appear.
The city has since been divided into three distinct districts that honeycomb out from the Trinity Intersection. One home to rejected Evos who despite their ostracization have managed to find a place for themselves, one home to humans without powers, also known as Puritans, who ostracize the Evos.
The last district belongs to the Forgotten, these are Evos who are too dangerous to be around others because they have little control over their power or they have been driven to madness by the negative effects of their power.
