August doesn't emerge from his room in time for dinner, and when Taehyung knocks on the door, he's met with silence.
So, Taehyung cooks a simple dish and leaves enough for August to have some as he eats his own serving in the dining room alone.
Taehyung feels like he is living with two different people: the August he met when he first came here and the August he has encountered twice today. He feels like he got whiplash from how quickly August's façade changed from one to the other today in both situations: the entryway and the dining room. Just as quickly as the venomous tone and glacial eyes would nearly ice Taehyung to his bones, it would extinguish and the soft-spoken man he would like to call his friend would reappear.
Why did he act so strange when Taehyung mentioned hearing things? Why did he ask if Taehyung had seen anything or heard voices?
The only people in this house are Taehyung and August; what difference would it make if he heard August speaking in his own home? There's nothing strange or alarming about that.
So why did he ask?
Why did he seem relieved that Taehyung said he hasn't?
Taehyung's head is swirling with confusion and unanswered questions. Today was meant to be a day of relaxation, but while his body was indeed at rest today, his mind has been racing since August came in from town and snapped the first time.
He is beginning to wonder if it would be better for him to leave and go back home, especially if things keep growing more hostile between the two men. The last thing he wants to do is make August uncomfortable in his own home; no matter how badly he needs this money.
If August makes it clear he wants Taehyung to leave, then he will.
No more questions asked.
He learned the hard way not to ask questions.
