Hi Kato <3 I am trying my best to not scream because I haven't joined a contest in like forever and I am scared that this might be one of the weirdest things I have made in a long while.

I HAD TO DRAW THE FREAKING HAND!!! And it took me almost an hour and freaking 4 psds to get the colors / shadows even remotely realistic. The PAIN I had to go through to blend the colors is something i dont even want to get deep into. I took the model that I got from pinterest, extracted its color palette ( another excruciating pain ) and then used like 10 brushes i have never used to fill in the base, then the layering of the other colors. And last but not least, a few of the inbuilt photoshop filters for the paint brush texture TvT.

THANKFULLY my effort with the blendmodes and 50 adjustment layers payed off and it looks pretty realistic ( ? ). I am so grateful for some of the digital art tutorials on youtube because I had to see quite a few of those ( repeatedly ) while making this ToT.

Now, for the explanation part, I was heavily influenced by the chinese myth ( and obviously your name ) of the red string of fate, i am not sure if there is an authentic explanation of what happens to the string when your soulmate dies, but a tumblr post said that its possible the thread breaks off or burns down, and the same thing has happened to the girl in the cover~ She has never met her soulmate but boom, one day the string burns down and she knows whoever they were are dead and so she longs for a stranger who she was fated to be with.
